View Full Version : Did anyone else loss their name to the server merge?

<p>I appear to have lost my original name that I have had for years on Permafrost.</p><p>I am a level 48 and log in often.</p><p>I logged into the game after the server merge and had a X on the end of my name. I petitoned this and got a email that the other person played that character longer so they got my name.</p><p>This is sad as this is my real life name and I have been with Everquest since day 1.</p><p>I beta tested Everquest.. How can anyone be there longer then me?</p><p>Please, I want my name back.</p>

You can check on EQ2Players for the time played on the other character and see if it's less than or greater than yours. Note that time played isn't character age: character age is the time elapsed since the character was created, time played is the actual amount of time you've spent logged in on that character. The exact rules in the event of a name conflict are:</p><ul><li>If one character has logged in in the 60 days before the merge and the other hasn't, the character who logged in keeps their name and the one who hasn't loses it.</li><li>If both characters have logged in in the 60 days before the merge, the character with the most time played keeps the name and the other loses it.</li><li>Presumably if neither character has logged in in the 60 days before the merge then the same rule applies as if both had logged in.</li></ul>

They will check to see which name has the most hours and played most recent. EQ2 players is not accurate.</p>

<p>Eh, maybe he made a character a few minutes earlier in beta.</p><p>But, seriously. It's time played. Check and see If the one that took your name has more time played, and If so. He does deserve it simply because he has more time invested with the name. You should get a name-change potion for free once you petition.</p>
