Does anyone have a good link to a video settings guide to improve performance for eq2? My machine is the following.

q9550 2.86 ghz quad core

ati 4890

8gb ram

In greater faydark with a good amount of settings high I drop to single digits and times and never really go beyond 30.

I already turned shadows off.

Thanks.

Turn off flora as well. As far as the rest goes you just have to tweak it for yourself. rendering distance is something that can be adjusted and have a big impact on framerate.

Silat

I got

I7 860 OC to 3.36 quad

EVGA GTX 460 1gig OC edition

4gigs ddr3 1600

160gig raptor drive

Now i see alot of people with basically the same set up saying Shader 3.0 and shades turned on runs perfect for them with high FPS -- i dont get it -- if i run with those 2 on FPS drops dramatically for me -- i have to run at balanced with those 2 turned off to get 55-60 fps with em on it drops down to 10-20 fps and thats not even in raids.

So Whats The Trick ?

I personally run with:

I7 860 StockEVGA GTX 4808GB DDR32x 300GB Velociraptors in Raid 0

With shader 3.0 enabled I noticed that my frame rates still dip down very low, especially in more graphically intense zones. I generally just play with it disabled, as I prefer smoother game play over eye candy. I recently upgraded to an OCZ Vertex 2 SSD and will see if thats made any improvements (most likely will just improve loading times).

I would also like to see what other settings players use to up the graphical quality while still keeping decent frame rates.

My system is :

i7 950 stock

Radeon 5870

12gb ddr3

2x750gb black edition WD

I was running with Shader 3, with respectable fps. But lately. Do not know if this is the cause of video drivers update or new game updates. When I activate Shader 3. I get horrible fps.

I am looking for an nvidia 580.
