View Full Version : "/friend" Command no longer functions correctly

Prior to a recent update, the /friend command allowed you to toggle someone from your friends list. For example, if I typed the following command:

/friend Rothgar

It would add Rothgar to my friends list if he wasn't on it, and remove Rothgar if he was on it.

Now, when you use the /friend command, it only adds someone to your list. It no longer removes them from your list, resulting in the following in-game error message:

Add Failed: Already in list.

This is a change to a command that has been in use in the EQ franchise for 11 years. Please change it back to how it was.

It would make more sense as: /friend add - Adds a friend /friend remove - Removes a friend /friend - Toggle

It actually does functions correctly if you use the servername in front of the name, so the functionality is still there, it just seems bugged now without the server name (at least for me).

Were you perhaps trying during one of the recent mergers? Friends lists on all servers were affected along with chats, and that's the sort of error I might expect to see if someone tried using the commands while things weren't fully working.

you have to use the "Friends" screen that you can access via the EQ2 button.

I'm sure he is aware of the friends window. He, like me, prefers to use the command line and would like the original functionality restored.

Silat

I am on Befallen, which has not yet been merged and it is doing the same thing to me as well.

Rothgar, this was happening on Permafrost last week. Obviously Perma is being merged today so I cant check, but it was definitely happening last week. I also tested the command yesterday before posting, when no mergers were happening.

We think we identify an unrelated change that might be causing this. We are looking into it.

I noticed this happening on Antonia Bayle as well.
