I have an AMD AM3 Athlon II x3, w/ 4th core unlocked & stable. 48701gb, 8gb ddr3, & speedy HD.

*What this cpu is missing is the L3 cache. Ive heard oh ya ya, that is the problem. But from what I read is the L3 cache mostly helps with multi core Dependant applications such as encoding, extracting, building multimedia projects and few games. I read that I need a cpu such as the athlon II 2 core, which has 2 megs L2 cache! L2 cache is more per core performance. (All Phenom's have like 512kb)

Ive been considering throwing my L3 cache-less CPU on ebay and grabbing a Phenom x6, but what I read makes sense. L3 cache should only help when the program demands more from the many cores. (For current games, L3 cache-less is fine! Does not help much) From what I have read here, even bigger setups like the top i7's don't have much improvement.

Does any1 have performance results with an Athlon II (no L3) VS Phenom II?

ps. was a real buzzkill when I upgraded this from a C2D w/4gb ddr2.
