Alright, so me and a RL friend play an SK fury combo and it works out fantastically. We want to have another duo for a change of pace, because sometimes he'll get tired of tanking or i'll get tired of healing. But with this combo we quite often hunt several levels above our own. We're looking for something nearly as effective. Unfortunately we got to 20 and I decided to reroll because my toon was so [Removed for Content] big I couldn't see what was going on around me. So I was going to reroll for the alts, but since I am rerolling I'd like to know which brawler class is better for this set up.

We went Bruiser/Defiler. Would monk defiler be better? I was going to go half elf just so I can get the tracking, are the stats or racial ability better for another race?(dont' tell me to play what I like, i really don't like anything that isn't as effective )

If you're primarily gonna be duoing then you should both be classes that do decent dps. Defiler's not really in the strong melee dps category. Warden, Mystic or Inquisitor would suit you better there. Warden in particular due to the good weapon skills buff. Between bruiser and monk, monk will let you get more haste for both of you. The lack of other support means the haste differential will be a fairly substantial difference.

Try monk and the inquisitor. Inquisitors have excellent buffs that suit any melee class and they benefit a monk greatly. A bruiser would be a good choice but bruisers don't really get good till post lvl 70.

Monks have better all round performance in the earlier stages of the game than what a bruiser will provide.

Thanks folks, just trying to get the second duo off the ground and your advice will help. Its been hard to replicate the fury+SK, they're just so damned effective and hunt waaayy above where you'd think they could.

So, would it be better to skip the monk all together? I basically raised a monk, SK, and Paladin to level 20 and I am trying to pick one. The big problem is the defilier does virtually no dps so I have to be able to hold some agro amd lay down some dps. I am starting to think I need to go sk, but I like the idea of monkish classes better, and I am sure the server doesn't need yet another SK.

Are you hard set on the defiler for any particular reason? The monk will be plenty effective for two manning with. While I'm not sure whether defiler or templar are last place for priest dps, if it isn't last it'll be second last.

The problem is the dude playing the defilier seems to want to give it a go. He is warming up to switching classes I think. Due to the new starting areas I can level to 20 in 2 days of moderate playing. He just hasn't warmed to that idea and feels like he has time invested lol.

Anyways, appreciate the input folks this has all been very helpful. I think i am going to push for a monk/warden or monk/mystic combo.

I am a fan of the Bruiser/Defiler. I two boxed them for awhile and defilers are great healers and add a lot of HP to a bruiser. I recently switched my defiler back to mystic (again) and it is about as effective.
