Hi all, hopefully someone can help me with the issue I am having with the launchpad. I was looking forward to return to EQ2 after several months break, but the problem I am having is preventing that. Here is the issue -

The Launchpad sits there and does nothing. It worked fine a few days ago when I went to reinstall and patch the game, but now, it loads and sits there with a black window inside of its frame, with the SOE logo.

I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling, installing it to alternate locations, and based on posts here, I have tried updating Adobe Flash and re-installing the DirectX 9.0c components. None of these have had any effect. I have also tried deleting the Launchpad.ini file, also suggested here, and renaming the EXE files. These, too, do not work. Just to be sure it wasn't a driver issue, I updated all of my systems drivers with the newest drivers (doing a clean uninstall of previous drivers beforehand). Again, didn't help.

As well, running the Launchpad in administrator mode or with various WinXP compatibility modes changed nothing. All firewalls (both on my system and my router) had been disabled to rule out it being a firewall issue. All ports used by EQ2 were opened, anyway.

Here are my system specs, in case this can help pinpoint the issue and help me get into the game:

OS: Windows 7 Professional, 32Bit

Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-M68M-S2P

Video Card: ATI Radeon HD 4650

CPU: DualCore AMD Athlon II X2 245

RAM: 3GB DDR2 Corsair Gaming ram

I am basically at my wits end, and there isn't anything else I can think of to try. Its fairly baffling that it was perfectly fine a few days ago when I got everything patched up and working - I was in game and playing just fine for a couple of hours.

Try installing this version of flash.

That is the version of flash that I'd installed after uninstalling the first time, as it was linked in the thread I'd read here:

http://forums.station.sony.com/eq2/...topic_id=486416

I uninstalled Flash again today, restarted my computer, reinstalled it again using the download you've linked here, and restarted again, just to be sure.

Unfortunately, it didn't make a difference. The Launchers still just sit there (I have this issue with both EverQuest 2 and Vanguard now =/)

When you say you are running the launch pad, are you referring to the original EverQuest II launcher? If you are try using the EverQuest II Streaming Client.

That was one of the versions I attempted to install, that just sat there on the logo screen. I also tried to use the one downloaded at this link:

http://www.everquest2.com/get_the_game/reinstall

Its working now. I had to completely uninstall EverQuest 2 again - which, I should note, I had to do with Revo Uninstaller since the the Streaming Clients uninstall program had issues. Despite EQ2 not running, it repeatedly asked me to close the game so that it could uninstall. I also want to note that there is no cancel button, so I had to go into Task Manager and close it there. I installed the game on my laptop, then attempted to uninstall it, and it had the same issue there, heh. I'm thinking that because it bugged out on both my computer and my laptop, its not an issue with my computer and might be looked into - I remember also having this problem with the EQ2X client on my old computer, which was running WinXP Pro.

I uninstalled Flash again, as well, then ran EverQuest 2's installer again. It installed a different version of flash than the one you linked, and that version is apparently the version that is working. The one you linked shows up on Windows' programs list as "Adobe Flash Player 10.1 ActiveX" - the one that is working for me shows up as "Adobe Flash Player 10 ActiveX". I am guessing that Adobe has released an update (and subsequently, updated the download you've linked to) that the launchers are incompatible with in some way.
