I'm a returning player and was playing the game just fine for the past 3 days. Last night, I logged out to desktop and I got the EQ2 Client has stopped working popup and thought nothing of it.

When I tried to play today, the client always crashes after I hit play and it gets to the entering game, loading zone info, etc screen.

Help?

Same thing happens to me. As soon as the hotfix came, I couldn't get into the game anymore. I still can go to the character selection screen, but can't get into the game with any character. For many years I never had a problem like this. Obviously, someone screwed it up with this patch.

Thanks to Zandru, you can do the following, it worked for me:

temporary fix is to delete: eq2ui_mainhud_knowledge.xml

Seen here in this thread:

http://forums.station.sony.com/eq2/...topic_id=491547

That didn't work for me. I go through the checks, log-in, play, character select screen looks great and character enters game. Load UI and wham the Microsoft report gets sent out and I'm looking at my desktop.

/rant_enabled

I KNOW you guys are programming in C++, and such, why isn't there a loader and game client for Linux? I really hate Windows. XP is better than Vista, but it still sucks. I have a 64-bit system that isn't being utilized, because Vista and XP64 sucks worse!

/rant_disabled

Anyway I need a new fix to get into the game. Why do I have the feeling this is a font issue?

THEN I tried deleting it from my UI file.

D'uh! I use Drumstixx UI and after deleting it from my UI FOLDER I was able to get into game.

Make sure you try this:

Incidentally, if you run a custom UI and are crashing whenever you open the Knowledge window, until your custom UI provider offers an update, you can temporarily delete these files from your custom UI folder:

eq2ui_mainhud_knowledge.xml

eq2ui_mainhud.xml

Let me know. Eventually, you may want to switch to default UI for testing purposes.
