Hello Sony, EQ2x.

There has been a "ongoing" problem with your Everquest2 Extended Software downloader (patcher). Let me state first that im am in no way a computer "expert" by any means. All I can figure out, is that your product doesn't work (for me). Let me explain what I have done to try to Fix 'your' problems from my end of the deal...

I experienced these patcher problems from the very launch of the new EQ2x game. I shrugged it off as "its new code/program", and to not get too agro over new buggered up code.. So i comb the forums looking for a remedy. After about a week, SoE or whoever fixed the patcher issue of it freezing and or hanging in limbo for hours... At this point, I am a little disappointed in Sony for not finding this problem and fixing it sooner. But oh well the game was up and at this point i was able to load in 8 out of 10 times without issue.

After about a months time, I noticed the Launchpad revert back to its sticky, freezing, hanging issues. This time it made me a bit more upset, because I have Purchased items from the Station Market. I wasnt able to use the items that I had Purchased with US Dollars.. I got very upset, and thought it was my Computer. So here is what I did to ensure myself that this Problem was not on my end.

I took out my existing Hard Drive. I Installed a New 1tb Hard drive, with a fresh copy of Windows XP SP2. After the fresh Install, I installed the latest Adobe player and Shockwave. At this point I have only the two additional programs added to Win XP. I Head strait to Sony's website to retrieve the latest EQ2X Download. I download the EQ2x ~13 gigs of Information. I wait out the THREE days (approx 50hrs.) for the download to complete. Once the EQ2X file is downloaded in full, I Installed the latest 'Avast' Anti Virus software. I then head on over to the Everquest forums to get all the Sony 'Port forwarding' information. I plug that into my firewall/router, etc..

After all that I click the EQ2X icon to launch Everquest2. The Launchpad launches and goes through its checks, and the Play botton is active and good to go.. I click play, it Launches me to the characters screen. Now at this point, I am like a Kid in a Candy store. Now I log my wizard character into the game. Upon entering the game, I took a step forward and the screen half faded, the baby download dragon appears on my screen and has about 500KB to download. At this point my Mouse cursor is active, so i think "Oh, okay prolly a sound file or spell effect file needs downloading".. So I leave the PC and go make coffee (10minutes). I come back. the KB's are still at 500, and the screen hasnt changed from its frozen state. The cursor is still active and good. so I /shrug... I wait another 20 or so minutes, and it came alive. The game was active as normal.. Woot! So I Call back to my home town, only to find that the same exact thing is happening again. The screen is half splash screen and half ingame zone (both faded) overlapping eachother. So I think to myself "well, just wait it out and see".. I waited about 45 minutes and no change.. So now i figure, just Ctrl+Alt+Del and kill the Everquest2 program. Well, I could not get the ctrl+alt+del to come up.. EQ2X has my HDD light on solid.. /shrug I wait for several minutes with no change.. So I hit the Reset button on my PC.. After the reboot, I try to launch the game again via the Icon on my desktop. After the launchpad goes through its motions of checking the game assets, i hit play. I make it to the character screen, and launch into the game.. I enter fine, and continue to play for a couple hours.

At this point Everquest2x is entering the game without too many hang-ups. I was getting into the game flawless about 75% of the time.. Until.... more recently (Nov. 24'ish to current). I Can NOT get into the game at all. Every step it takes to log into the game has a trip up.. the ratio of successful entry is down to maybe 10% of the time, with a 90% failure. This comes out of no where.. I haven't been to 'ANY" websites other than eq2wikia.com on this PC.. This PC is strictly for Everquesting and nothing else.. So I know there is no conflict with any other programs on the PC. After a couple days of not even trying to log into EQ2x, I try again with the hopes that the problem is fixed. I find out it is "NOT" fixed. Upon launching the Launchpad from desktop, I notice it has 2.01Gig's to download!..???.. I had downloaded the game in full, before I even tried to log in for the first time... So where these 2gigs of info came from is beyond me... So with disappointment I figure i'll have to download it anyways. So I wait it out,, Hours go by, and it hasn't gotten below 1.98gigs.. I notice my router is not blinking at all, and my HDD light is rock solid.. So I Hold the Power button to shut down my PC. My PC shuts down, But my PC power light is still on.. This is very Odd to say the least... So i kill the main power to my pwr supply; my PC light goes off (whew).. I power back on, and try to enter Everquest2x again.. The Launchpad it trying to download 1.98 gigs again.. so I 'Try' to let it download, after about 1 minute my router stops blinking and the download stops.. I wait for several minutes to see if it will start back up.. NOPE.. nothing.. At this point My HDD is rock solid again, and I can not quit the Launchpad.exe from the Ctrl+Alt+Del.. Nothing is working to stop the program from hanging up and whoring my CPU power. So AGAIN i have to HARD CRASH my PC to get YOUR program to stop.. This exact same proccess is going on 'Everytime I "try" to launch the game.. On a rare chance, I can get into the game about 1 in 10 times, and it could take anywhere from 10minutes to over an hour to get "in-game". Once im in the game.. I can't zone or log out, or i will get the streaming download baby dragon icon of death, and the game will hang, or freeze.

I am running all the latest drivers for my sound, ethernet, graphics, etc.. I have even tried to use the Microsoft drivers for said hardware, with "No" change in logging into EQ2x.. So.. I Ask Sony.. What should i do?.. I have reinstalled the entire game on a fresh PC with the latest and greatest drivers and knowhow.. If YOU SONY could Send a Technician out to my house and have a look at my PC and Network, you have my full permission.. This PC is as open as it could be to Sony corp. It is basicly an extention of Sony's Network; I have all ports open to your location, disabled my firewalls, disabled my Anti-virus. I dont know what more i can do to extend my PC out to you for ease of access.. I even have a personal relationship with my ISP.. So if you need me to set up VPN to Everquest2x, i could do that..

At this point Sony, I just want my money back.. Money that I have spent on things like "Mounts".. It really is bad business to sell someone $25 item, then not allow them to use it at all.. I had just thrown down 25 dollars on a mount 'cause the game was operating somewhat normal.. but the day after my purchase, I literally cant even use it, of no fault of my own (that i can see).. So.. I ask Sony to do the right thing and Refund my Purchase of the Mount ($25 usd).. You can Delete my account after that, 'cause i have no use for it.. It was a bad experience playing eq2x.. and if I want to play Everquest2, I will just open my old 'Live' account back up.. A $15 access fee is better than the loss of a $25 mount any day of the week.

Please contact me via Email or phone...

Soandso..

So now today, I boot up and wait for my PC to finish warming up and initialize.. I then cross my fingers and hit the EQ2X icon on my desktop. The eq2x launchpad patcher has a small 2mb patch to download.. so i wait.... its done, i click the PLAY button quick like a bunny.. The Launchpad sits there for about 5 seconds (normal), then disappears and it looks like EQ2x is going to launch. At this point i check my TaskManager and see in fact that the Launchpad is gone, and EverQuest2.exe is there. So i close my Task Manager, and start waiting.. After about Five minutes I notice my Hard drive light is on, and there is no activity from my router.. So I Hold my Power button on my PC.. I reboot my PC, only to find that it wont re-boot.. I keep getting a error "lsass.exe, The Procedure entry point systemfunction036 could not be located in the dynamic link library ADVAPI32.dll." I also got a couple other "lsass.exe" errors I didnt write down.. So now I have to repair the error within windows that Everquest2 has created.. So I repair it from the windows xp CD.. Now here I sit typing this while trying to launch EQ2x in the backdrop.. its been sitting here "loading" (for lack of a better word) for about 20 minutes.. SONY... Is this the Normal?.. Is 'ANYONE else' having these issues?.. I know for a fact that i cant be.. how do i know?.. I have two other PC's with EQ2x on them.. and None of them will or can get past the Launchpad. My main PC is the only one that will get past the Launchpad 'Sometimes" (like 1/5th the time). I have gamed as long as video games have been around, and never in my life have experienced this type of disfunction.. what gives? Funny as hell too, since EQ2 Live Launches without missing a step, but EQ2X is totally buggered up.. So much bugger'ness that it screws up the Operating System of the Computer.. hahaha.. wow.. Sony, this is the very First gaming program that has done this to me in my 24 years of sitting behind a Computer.. The last PC game I had to manually adjust this much was Duke Nukem, where I had to customize the Modems to handshake properly... Are We back at that point in time???.. At anyrate, I was able to log on yesterday, and kept my toon sitting in a zone, as to not have to go through another "log-in" session.. It has become ridiculous beyond imagination.. Soandso..
