I just love the idea of the illy and having various light/color based spells and the mini me illusion pet. I knew they weren't really top tier at much. I figured it couldn't be that bad. Well after about 20 levels I'm giving up on it. I know thats not much, but man I've died more times with this toon than all of my other 7 combined. This class just lacks survivability and punch. I feel like I'm a traveling bag of exp for mobs to level up on. I hope you guys get some love soon, because it was brutal. I can't imagine taking it all the way up to the higher levels. I can't handle that much torture so I'm gonna DELETE and try something else.

Good luck you guys.

I read that three times and don't see what I'm missing. I also tried an illusionist and gave up on it, mainly because I hated the animations that just never seem to stop flashing and changing colours and generally giving me a headache. I persevered with it longer than I might have, simply because it was so good at staying alive, and killing yellow and orange mobs. Eventually I decided that although the illusionist could get through quests a lot more easily than many of my others, the constant feeling of being in an 80s disco just wasn't worth it.

Illusionists (and chanters in general) don't really become powerful until later levels unfortunately. While no class is for everyone, you may have given up on it a little early.

Each class needs a specific mindset and does things in a certain way. A style that works for an sk for example, will not work for an illu.

If you really want to play a class, stick with it, learn its strengths and weaknesses and adjust your play style to it. If you're not eager to do it then yeah, don't play it.

Unfortunately we are the best mezzers, but being the best at the least useful and used ability isn't very compelling. Your actually saving yourself a ton of heartache by quiting at 20. Pretty colors... really?

Yeah it just seems that this class is not for you. Nothing wrong with that, but I had no problems soloing on my Illusionist. I rarely died except when I tried to hard of a fight.

As an Illusionist you can easily fight groups of enemies, I just mezzed the adds and killed them one by one. It is a class that you have to think about how to fight, where as an SK you can just jump in and mash buttons. I know when I play a melee class a lot then switch to my lowbie wizard, I have to tell myself to switch strategies.

I greatly enjoy playing my illusionist, I think its a great class that is always wanted in end game.
