Veterans Day was originally known as Armistice Day throughout the world. This day marked the official end of the "Great War" (World War I), at 11am on November 11, 1918; the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month. After the end of World War II, Armistice Day was changed to Veterans Day in the United States, in order to honor those who have served the country in all wars.

Please join all of us at SOE in thanking former and current members of the military, their families, and all supporters of freedom and peace for their service. We salute you!

As someone who has done 6 years Active Duty, and 2 years (and counting!) Reserves in the Air Force, I will respond to this simple message with one of my own:

Thank -you-. ... And you're welcome.

And to the rest of my brothers and sisters in arms... Past, present, AND future... I say to you good luck, godspeed, and always return to the rest of us safely.

God bless you and your families, and thank you for your service.

As a veteran, thank you for remembering us. I am a strong believer in serving at least 2 years in the military for everyone. Having spent many years in service of our country, I have seen many other cultures throughout the world and it has brought me more respect and desire to protect our freedoms we have and the prosperity of our nation.

"Some things in life can not be explained or taught; they have to be experienced."

I can not remember if they believe that military folks should not be "allowed" to mingle with "regular" folks.

As a disabled veteran myself, I would most probably echo my fellow veterans when I say no thanks is needed. It was truly a privelage and an honor to serve.

If you would give thanks do it in a way that benefits everyone, pay it forward...

It doesn't have to be a grand gesture, just saying a simple "Hello, how are you" can make a person's day.

Be tolerant to others whether you share their nationality, race, beliefs, or social stature. Educate yourself, don't parrot what you may have heard. Be a leader, a true leader, lead by example. Ignorance and intolerance has been at the root of most if not all of the conflicts that this world has ever seen.
