why does the game change my ATI catalyst control options? it happens whenever i log in and can happen while i'm playing the game. i dont' like what it does bc it makes my screen VERY VERY dark.

when i first started playing the game, it was very dark and hard to see. i kept trying to adjust the settings in the game and it never worked. eventually, i gave up on it and put everything back to the default settings in the game. then, i opened up my ATI catalyst control center and adjusted my entire computer. that worked well for the game but made everything outside the game a bit washed out/too bright. i decided to keep it that way bc too many things were too hard to see within the game.

all was going well until recently. suddenly, my computer's settings had been changed. (i noticed bc again the game was really dark.) i opened the ATI catalyst control panel and discovered that it would not let me make any changes. i was required to click "reactivate ATI color controls" to change the screen back. i did so and made some minor adjustments. after relogging into EQ2, the game went dark again. i reopened the ATI catalyst control panel and saw that the settings had been changed. again, it would not let me customize. i had to click "reactivate ATI color controls". after having my computer go back to the settings that i chose, the game is no longer too dark. now i have to keep the ATI CC open all the time & click "reactivate ATI color controls" every time that i load the game and when i'm playing and it suddenly goes dark. (btw, i have tried it with the "default" for ATI and with customizing, EQ2 still changes the settings to something other than ATI color controls. currently, i have the default settings on for EQ2.)

i'd like the game to stop that. pls. help. thank you

I can't explain why your graphics settings are changing from the Catalyst Control Center. However, have you considered changing the gamma settings within EverQuest II, to brighten up your image? This way, it doesn't effect the gamma on your desktop.

To get to the gamma controls, load into the game and access your options. It should be under the DISPLAY >> COLOR CORRECTION option. You will want to adjust the "Overall Gamma" slider to a preferred setting. If you do not see the COLOR CORRECTION option you may need to click on the "Advanced" button on the top right of the OPTIONS window.
