OK so here it goes.

About 3 weeks ago or so when i'm playing EQ2, doesn;t matter which zone i'm in, all of the sudden i'll go from 55-65 FPS right to at 6 FPS about every 10 to 15min. This lag will last for about 50sec and make is look like my character is in slow motion, then i'm back to 55-65 FPS again like everything is running great.

Up until now I've had a buddy of mine gain access to my comp with remote access and he took a look at everything and could not find anything going on. We even took a look at the windows task manager to see if anything was running in the background when this happens but nothing showed up. I've updated everything that I could drivers, chipsets, etc... I even went the extra mile and wiped the computer clean and started all over.

The only thing I can think of is maybe a windows update is causing this but i'm really not to sure. I've also uninstalled my virus program thinking that was causing it but still nothing. About the same time this started to happen my mouse started freezing as well even on desktop at anytime it will freeze for about 3 to 5 sec. I just want to know what's going on with the FPS issues. I don't know to much about computer so i'll try my best to list the type of computer I have.

------------------System Information------------------Time of this report: 11/6/2010, 22:05:30 Operating System: Windows Vista™ Home Premium (6.0, Build 6002) Service Pack 2 Language: English (Regional Setting: English)System Manufacturer: Gateway System Model: LX6810-01 BIOS: Default System BIOS Processor: Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Quad CPU Q8200 @ 2.33GHz (4 CPUs), ~2.3GHz Memory: 8190MB RAM Page File: 2911MB used, 13682MB available Windows Dir: C:Windows DirectX Version: DirectX 11DX Setup Parameters: Not found DxDiag Version: 7.00.6002.18107 32bit Unicode

------------DxDiag Notes------------ Display Tab 1: No problems found. Sound Tab 1: No problems found. Sound Tab 2: No problems found. Input Tab: No problems found.

Can you post more of your DXDIAG information up to the sound devices section? You mentioned that you wiped your system clean, did you remember to install Direct X 9.0c?

[EQII] Direct X Requirements

This may be caused by the graphics card overheating. When the device gets hot your system may lower the card's clock speeds to get it back within safe operating temperatures. The next time this happens find out what temps you are seeing when running the game. HWmonitor is a free application you can use to monitor your system temperatures. By the way what performance setting are you currently running the game at?

I downloaded the Direct X9.0c program and installed some files. I will give HWMonitor a shot and see what it will show me. As for my setting I have it set to "High Preformance".

The left side of this image was when everything was running good about 55 FPS. The right side of the image is when the FPS dropped down to 8 FPS.

Your graphics card is definitely getting hot. According to OEM GeForce GT 120 listed on Nvidia's Site the maximum operating temperature for that card is 105 degrees Celsius. During your gaming session up to the point you took the "After" screenshot your card has hit a maximum of 115 degrees Celsius.

I recommend checking the airflow in your case and that it is free of accumulated dust. Lowering the performance setting for the game will also put less strain on the card and it should provide you with better stability and lower temps.

Thank you for all the help/info. Will get this taken care of and see how it does.

If the graphics card is overheating I'd recommending checking the cooler on it for dust/fluff. I did have a ATI HD3870 which started crashing badly, outwardly it looked very clean, inside though it had a thick layer of fluff that had built up infront of the metal fins for the heatsink exhaust.
