Is there anything to suggest what happened to my good fishy friend Phinigel? My wizzy spent many visits with him in EQ1 negotiating epic drops for friends and guildmates, and I miss him.

I had figured he would have made an appearance in the EoF expansion but haven't seen anything around the Unrest area to suggest Kedge Keep survived the shattering. In fact.. now that I think about it.. is there even any 100% underwater zones in the game or am I just blanking out this morning?

Nope. 100% underwater zones result in some SERIOUS Z Axis issues when it comes to combat. The developers said that when EoF came out, they had a technical limitation set in place and they had to decide between Kedge Keep and Unrest. They went with the one that was easier to design and script.

There's no confirmation that Phinigel is dead, what with him being immortal and all... but there's nothing saying he's still alive either. I'm still holding out on him showing up sometime. It'd be cool to see what a Kedge looks like in EQ2's graphics.

Long forgotten dieties that never had worshipers on Norrath. After bargaining with The Old Ones they agree to seperate the Kedge race from Phinigel's soul in return for his and their eternal service. Shattering Phinigel's mind and body the Kedge are brought to life using the waters of the Fay'rn and the clay of cosgrove and the flesh of other undersea creatures Phinigel was able to lure towards his undersea temple. The new Kedge themselves take on the attributes of whatever creatures are absorbed into their new bodies, with a taste for living flesh due to the involvement of the Vessle.

Phinigel himself was driven quite mad. He bellows forth commandments for worshiping the Old Ones, and in his more lucid moments he plots ways to open a portal so his beloved dieties may visit their new altar and be amused as Norrath is sacrificed to madness.

Don't know why you're predicting in the past tense, but Phinigel was indeed driven insane from the sheer loneliness of being the last of his kind.

I wonder if he felt better once EQ1's "The Buried Sea" expansion came out... Shissar and Kedge and Combine, oh my!
