Frostfell has been activated on Test and Test Copy!

Gigglegibbers and Frostfell elves are busy celebrating the season in each player city with tasks and stories for everyone. And those that want an even more concentrated amount of Frostfell festivities are encouraged to enter the Frostfell Wonderland Village through the Magic Closets in Qeynos Harbor, West Freeport, Haven, Kelethin, Neriak, Gorowyn and New Halas. There you can gather presents to craft wondrous new Frostfell goodies, add to your collections while ducking snowballs, purchase new and classic Frostfell goods, and even assist Gardy Ex-Giftgiver, Mr. McScroogle, Queen Bunny and the innocent Snarf Frostfoot with some important tasks. Don't forget to log in each day and claim your extra-special Frostfell present from everyone's favorite Frostfell Gigglegibber, Santa Glug!

You may spot some odd things, due to the overlap of both the Nights of the Dead and Frostfell running at the same time, right now. But keep in mind that this will not be the case when it goes live. Currently, Frostfell is scheduled to run on live servers, 12/09/10 through 01/06/11.

Oh, another thing to keep in mind! The Frostfell Trees that are placed in Qeynos Harbor and West Freeport are not there, yet. That requires a zone art change, and is not something that can simply be "turned on". So, the decor around where those trees should be may be floating off or sunk in the ground a bit. But everything else is there for your testing delight!

If you have any feedback or bugs, please post it in this thread so that we will be sure to see it. Thank you!

~Kaitheel

Frostfell zones should now be up on the Test servers. Please let us know if you have trouble accessing any of these zones. Thanks.

Just a bit of feedback so far... Was looking through the crafted items, saw some nice additions this year. However, it would be nice to see (although, perhaps to late for this year?) some of the plates that the foods are on as crafted items, without the food. (The figgy pudding plate is especially nice, imo.) That way we could add a little extra something to our holiday table settings. Would also be nice to see some individual oranges and apples (without bitemark :p), and even gingerbread cookies.Really like the new dividers, they're very pretty. (Might be easier to work with the gingerbread one without the candy canes on the ends though?)

Love all the new crafting additions! Thank you for adding purple items.. this will be so much fun to work with. Any chance we can get the Amythest stained glass windows that we had to work with in the NOTD decorating contest added in game? It will go perfectly with the new Frostfell dividers and the purple accents. Pretty Please!

Thank you

Dreamclouds

The crafting additions were nice. I agree with the above that another gingerbread divider w/o the candy canes attatched would be great. Crafting aside, though, I saw nothing new but I very well could have missed it. Even the old quests were giving the same old rewards. Is there anything new that needs to be tested? Perhaps a list of new things so we know what to hit up.

Didn't look to be much new as far as quests go, at least from my quick runaround. I personally am bummed out that we don't get to aggravate Vrewwx more. Also disappointed there still is not a plushie of his adult form from Icy Keep Retribution.

Otherwise, I noticed that porting from the village to Timorous Deep put me in the water, and the devotee reward has the same description as one of the gingerbread dividers.

Anyways, please add an adult Vrewwx plushie, don't mind if it is 200 epic Eci tokens. I figure it would only make sense as we had gotten a new Vrewwx plushie in the past, baby and young. Don't see why we would not get the adult stage.

There are a few new gifts from Santa Glug -- so far I've gotten a new cloak and a spell to cast a pet snowman!
An outline of the additions to this huge holiday event

* New Halas is celebrating Frostfell! The city has been decorated and Gigglegibber goblins abound within the newly founded city.* The new "Frostfell Fanatic!" quest starter is delivered to everybody via the holiday in game mail.* Gardy Ex-Giftgiver has a new quest to send adventurers on, and a new scaling dungeon for you to crawl through, once you have helped him this year with “The Giftgiver's Dilemma”.* "A Frostfell Favor" offered by Mr. McScroogle has a new reward choice.* "Saving Frostfell" offered by Queen Bunny has a new reward choice.* "An Exalting Experience!" offered by Aildiun Mawdrun has a new reward choice.* “Candy Cane Grab 'n Tag” offered by Gary Gigglegibber (Frostfell Grab 'n Tag Registration) in North Qeynos and North Freeport has a new reward choice.* Santa Glug is back and has 13 gifts, 7 of which are new to give everyone that asks, once a day!* Gerbi Frostfoot, the permafrostfell merchant, has 9 brand new items and 11 items previously only attainable through the raid version of the zone.* Giddlenerf, Guhtosle, Giggawat, and Garsleblat, other Gigglegibber merchants selling Festive decorations and equipment, have 6 new items available including 3 brand new crafting books.

Enjoy the festivities!

~Kaitheel

The "Smoking Glacial Brazier" is scaled to be absolutely tiny in the dressing room window when you preview it. Although the actual house object is a proper default size when you use it, this might put people off buying it.

Also (and I'm suprised no one else has mentioned this yet), we can't currently finish the Decorating Additions in New Halas quest on Test... because there's a NotD cart positioned on top of the last green sparkle! Doh.

The Gigglegibber Gifty Storehouse feels largely incomplete. I know its a repurposed Runnyeye 2, but there are alot of empty rooms, and on my run through at least there were not enough objects to complete the quest without a second run.

You can trade the "Call to Frostfell Fanatics" quest starter.. just accidentally dropped it into a sales crate on Test Copy.

The trees by the Magic Closets are missing in Qeynos and Freeport. Re-read the OP, had missed this oops.

Gerbi Frostfoot - He does not sell level 82 armor and weapons. His petamorph wands only have 5 charges each (I think most others have been changed to unlimited charges now? Maybe up the token cost for an unlimited charge version.) The icy snapper house pet -- looks very cool but could we possibly get a plushie version instead?

Doing the The Gigglegibber Gifty Storehouse quest is a pain when you die .. the last 2 mobs in the zone killed my toon and had to revive outside the zone and I had to start the zone all over again. Not even going to concider this zone with my lower toons who cant even punch a hole in a soft pack of butter...lol

Enlightment errrrr Enlightenment

I exiled one of my Test Copy chars this morning to see where the Frostfell Fanatic update for the leather-wrapped gift box was in Haven.
Heyya all!

We've got some Frostfell changes coming soon to the Test servers, via the usual QA approval, that I wanted you to be aware of. Once the servers have been updated you should find the following messages in the Update Notes:

Live Events - Frostfell• Traveling to Timorous Deep through the Magic Closet from Frostfell Wonderland Village no longer places player in water.• "Petamorph Wand: Ice Boar" and "Petamorph Wand: Ice Crab" now have 10 charges and can be bought from Gerbi Frostfoot.• “Santa Glug's Sleigh” has an accurate description now.• The "Call to Frostfell Fanatics" quest starter is now no-trade.• The fourth decoration spot for the quest "Decoration Additions in New Halas" has been moved slightly, so it is not occupying same space as Nights of the Dead decor.• The quest "Covering Your Snow Tracks!" now has a "Frozen Token of E'ci" as a reward choice along with "goblin popsicles". Thus, if a player does not want any of the goblin popsicles they can instead choose to receive a total of 3 Frozen Token of E'ci.• Aildiun Mawdrun should now be offering the quest "An Exalting Experience" to anyone who completed it last year.• Players can now exit the "Elfin wonderland" zone to Halas by clicking the present.• Lord Bosprite within the "Elfin wonderland" now offers players that have completed "The Tale of the Gigglegibber Grump" to return them to Halas via dialog.• The respawn point for the "Gigglegibber Gifty Storehouse" is now within the zone.• The evacuate point for the "Gigglegibber Gifty Storehouse" is now the docks in Enchanted Lands.• Many of the mobs within the "Gigglegibber Gifty Storehouse" have been made a little easier.• There are now more gift crates within the "Gigglegibber Gifty Storehouse" and Gigglegibber actors.

Thanks again for all of the timely feedback!

~Kaitheel

Never did see the Steamfont one though.

edit: and THANK YOU!!!!!!!!!!!! for adding a token choice to the repeatable Icy Keep quest--I destroyed about 50+ goblins last year after taking a screenshot of my goblin army.
I don't think I saw it spoken of anywhere...

Is there aaaany way someone can sneak in and add text to the Icy Books? Does not have to be lore-tasty at all!! Maybe a diary of a snowman? I mean it's a win-win for everyone! Someone can come up with some cute, maybe 3 or 4-page (remember that a page is hardly even a paragraph, so that's like barely 8 sentences!) thing and get their creativity on, and hopefully the book will use the new book-reading format and not blue boxes, meaning they wouldn't count against house item count. Everyone would be happy!

Assuming the books can be modified to have text... ):

Of course, I know I'll be getting my hands on a copy either way, but it would be much appreciated I'm sure *nodnod*

[EDIT] Ooh or a wintry snowman poem, Norrath-style...

Frostel the snowman was an angry, [Removed for Content] off soul With a wormwood pipe and a jumjum nose And two eyes made out of coal Frostel the snowman is a mean ol' jerk they say He was made out of snow But the Teir'Dal know how he came to life one day There must've been some magic in That Inn'ruuk's charm they found ...

A silly thing.. as someone who's never seen Frostfell before:

I did the Decorating Additions in New Halas, got my tree ticket, and didn't know what to do with it. Maybe it was in the text and I didn't remember it, but going back and talking to the NPC again was no help. I had to ask other people, and they said to go back and click on the tree. Until then I didn't even realise the tree was a clickable merchant, it didn't register as being more than just another decorative Frostfell scenery object.

So could you put a dialogue option on the NPC after you've finished the quest to say what to do with your ticket?

This is a curious one...

When I fly down from the New Halas housing area to the outside area, the Frostfell objects are very slow to load, they seem to appear last some time after everything else has been displayed. Noticeably the giant Christmas tree and the Magic Closet. The closet is the issue, because I'm standing there for 5-10 seconds waiting for the closet to load so I can zone in. This has happened every time for me so far. And my PC is pretty high spec and doesn't normally have trouble loading the graphics! My guess would be that perhaps the temporary seasonal objects are being loaded after the permanent zone art, and maybe having the extra Nights of the Dead art on Test as well doesn't help? I don't know if you can do anything about this. But it does explain why the first time I was looking for the Frostfell zone-in point I struggled so much, the closet literally wasn't there the first time I flew past that area.

PS: Yes I "fly", I'm a fae!

Hello,I have a feedback on this [Removed for Content] Corrival in Icy Keep: The return. Last year, we had the possibility to grey out the zone, using chronomentoring for those who were undergeared and wanted to finish the quest at odd hours or for any other reason. I know I did it grey with all my chars because I had a lot of chars and did not want to run a ton of groups just for this single quest. It was doable, even if on some low level chars I had a hell of a time killing it, even 20 levels grey. This year, we can't unmentor any more if we trivialize the zone.I died 6 times in a row now on a level 84 conjuror, with average gear. I first started by mentoring to 74 and the unmentoring. No way, I can't manage the adds when they pop. I then mentored to 5 and adds were level 10 so they killed me in no time (but I think I could not have killed them anyway). I then mentored to 10 and got soundly killed by the adds in the short time it took me to find the right one... Great...NO live event quest like that, especially Frostfell which is supposed to be fun, should require a 6-man group. Chronomentoring gave us the possibility to have a short fight (or not so short but doable) to update the quest without getting any loot or AA or XP reward. It was a great possibility. Now all the little chars, the little alts that don't do anything except live events will have no possibility at all to finish this quest.Could we get another version of this "Icy Keep: the return" that would be very-easy but with no loot drop or the possibility to unmentor and trivialise the zone? Please? I can crawl and beg if you want...

I believe in past years there was a issue if you did the Feeling Gifty repeats at different tiers, you wouldn't progress to the second quest where you were offered the alternate quest with the wreath, light options, etc. Such as when someone did one quest mentoring and then went back unmentored.

Couple of unrelated issues here:

1) Tried to do The Icy Keep: The Return with a level 90 brigand mentored down to help my level 12 necro. Corrival spawned at level 13 (as expected) but the adds when he split were level 17 heroics. They were red! So we had 4 red mobs on us, 5 levels above us, and that's a bit much. Is something wrong with the scaling of the zone here, they don't spawn as red normally?

2) The portal to/from Frostfell Village and Steamfont - the mouseover/clickable area on them is down at the bottom, way below the centre of the swirly graphic. So when I tried to click on the visible graphic, I was aiming for the centre, and there's nothing there. It took awhile to find the correct spot. (NB: Don't know if this is related to playing fae/arasai and being lower to the ground myself.)

Whilst I didn't struggle with the zone, I did notice a few things.

(This is written retrospectively...) I soloed this easily with my level 90 fury, and she's not maxed out on AAs, expert abilities, etc. I did notice that sometimes you get 2 mobs on you. Some rooms have quite a few mobs and/or the roaming paths they take means you can get an add if not being careful. It didn't bother my fury, but I can see this situation being too much for classes and levels which are struggling to take the mobs on solo.

I suspected the humbug mobs seemed to do a bit more damage, just an impression. What I noticed most was that getting a humbug plus something else aggroed at the same time did mean I needed to use an extra heal or two, and after the first experience I started taking out the humbugs first when that happened.

Then I took my level 12 necro there solo, after you posted so here's a full report as I went through. She does have mastercrafted t2 armour on her, and 10 AAs spent in combat stuff.

Level 11 icy mobs are blue and are fine, no harder than the clockworks in MacScroogles HQ for comparison. The level 10 icy mobs have noticably less hp, and are quicker to kill than the level 11 ones.

Humbug is level 11 and blue, or level 12 and white. Unlike what my fury saw, at this level they didn't seem any harder. I could easily handle a level 11 humbug by myself without using the pet.

Ice damaged toy maker is level 12 and white. The level 11 version is blue. My pet was taking a bit more damage on those level 12 mobs. Toy makers also have a knock back, that might cause you to get adds in a new room you haven't kill much in yet.

Big'n Furry is level 12 and white. Hit the pet harder than anything else in the zone, but still wasn't hard to kill. (And still no loot or reason for him being there!)

The necro pet could take getting hit by 2 mobs at once and wasn't in danger of dying at any point during the zone.

I didn't have a problem with the density of the mobs myself, but I was being cautious about entering the rooms, pulling mobs back to the doorway at first. And I did end up with two mobs on the pet a couple of times. My "next target" hotkey wasn't much help as it kept picking up the crates and the goblins, so it just requires a visual check on which mob is nearest and where you're going to fight it when starting a new room.

The humbugs do seem to roam the rooms quite a bit, and quite fast. At one point I had sensibly chosen to fight a toy maker in an empty corner (the room wasn't cleared yet), and a humbug zoomed over and added onto me! That's a bit much when I'd deliberately chosen to fight in a seemingly safe spot. Loc where that happened was 45, -16, -171.

Generally I liked the place and neither character found it hard, but if some classes/levels are struggling...

a) One suggestion might be to thin the mobs out a bit. Or rather than remove mobs, move some of them from the rooms into the corridors so you can take each one solo.

b) Those humbugs could definitely be reined in a bit, so they don't fly across from the other side of the room and jump you!

A few more findings for ya. (They all went in /bug /typo /feedback as well, but you might see it quicker here!)

1) My evil arasai necro can go to New Halas (where our guild hall is) and use the magic closet to enter Frostfell Village. So why can't she use the magic closet in the Frostfell Village to return to New Halas? New Halas itself is neutral, and there were a few times it would have been convenient for me to use this route.

2) The Glacial Statue on the Frostfell Vendor can't be previewed in the dressing room. Makes it hard to know whether to spend tokens on it!

3) The description on the Thrice-Polarized Frostrotron: "guarenteed" should be "guaranteed".

4) Graphics issues with the Thrice-Polarized Frostrotron:

a) When you resize the object, the blue star effect resizes as well, but the falling snow doesn't resize.

b) The snow works fine inside the house. But when you place the object outside of the normal house area, the falling snow effect stops running. You see the white snowflakes clumped together in a blob above the object, they don't fall! E.g. I placed mine down on the Halas docks, breaking out of a 5 room Halas house.*

*The reflection of the blue star in the sea looks awesome, especially against the sunset lighting. Snow or no snow, I'm NOT moving it back inside!!

As the Frostfell fog is only available after completing this instance, and many of us enjoy running all our toons through holiday events, whether well-geared or not, I'd love to see this offered in a "easy" mode, "solo" mode, or at least tuned down a bit. I had my 74 fury mentoring friends at 32, and we were ok until the split, but couldn't survive long enough to target the correct mob to take down. We were almost fully geared in Frostfell token gear and probably mostly apprentice spells, so yeah maybe not the average toon, but again people will want to run their alts or (gasp) crafters through, who may be even worse geared. We tried again mentoring a level 14 toon, thinking that might make it survivable, but although the corrival was 14, the adds spawned 5 levels higher, a very red 19 that mowed us down lol.

Edit: ok, we went back and tried again, this time starting the instance with a level 25 toon and mentoring to the level 32 characters. It was just enough difference that we weren't automentored to 25, and we were able to just barely kill the corrival, after recovering from the tank dying. Go, go, wizard tank! LOL

The Storehouse is rather tedious when you are a healer, those crates just don't die easy. Do we have to have the combat with the crates AND agro mobs in the zone? I thought this was supposed to be for fun and happiness

The frozen Corrival is HARD unless you are well geared, with toons wearing the frostfell gear (btw where is the healer jewelry?)

It says something about the encounter when you need to mentor down and un-mentor to be able to do the encounter, the split is what kills us, I personally never lived long enough to be able to see the heart buff on the mobs, I was dead that fast. Granted my test toons are average geared and do not have experts or masters, but even still does everyone have those things?

Copy/paste of my bug report, honestly not sure if this is a bug but:

I ran the Gigglegibber's Work is Never Done by a Gigglegibber quest with a char on Test Copy, and they were not able to obtain the new Feelin' Gifty in New Halas! quest. Last year they had completed Feelin' Gifty in Qeynos! Now I have run the quest with a char on Test who has never done Frostfell before and they are able to obtain this quest. Reward aside, shouldn't this quest be repeatable once per year, or at least able to be done once per city for the AA?

Well a possible answer, if the bag can't be made bigger would be to have another bag, which is bigger. If you have done it once, you have done it for all of them. This is how it has been since 2006 when they were first added. It's just been a very long time since I had to work with that quest giver and had forgotten that. The good news is that you are not missing out on any rewards. They all grant your character one thing... tha ability to add some twinkly lights to your frostfell trees. You do any of these quests once, and all of your trees can now have those lights.

~Kaitheel

Thank you for the clarification Kaitheel, with all my alts it gets confusing and sometimes I think that I had been able to repeat the quest before.

I like Kaishas idea, but if push comes to shove at the very least give us the trader like from NOTD to exchange and make the recipes take any mix of fuels. (food for 1 food item exchanger and decor for decor items). Give all the dyes to the goblin, all the wrapping papers for one fuel type that will fill those slots. I dunno, a decor "token" so I can make all the presents and lanterns, candles I want. Then exchange all the food for some magic food item that does the same for frosted apples, hams, etc.

I just really want the end result to help us with all the overflowage of so many fuels. I have to use toons as mules just for Frostfell and it would be nice to play them without having to juggle the items around.

Also, currently I cant move full bags around anymore, I have to empty each item from a full bag into another bag, really a major time sink for me. So making the fuels more maneagable would be a big help, any solution will do!

I love the variety of ingredients to find, but this would allow for much easier storage, plus those who prefer using the original ingredients could keep them all, and those who would rather not can exchange them on the goblin.

Or what about a bigger personal harvesting depot that we could store all the holiday ingredients in?
