View Full Version : Any possibility of diagnosing consistent on-exit crash?

ince I started playing EQ2 again a few months ago, I've been having a problem with fairly consistent crashing of the game after I exit - not EVERY time, but definitely a good 80-90% of the time. In other words, I log out of the game fine, get back to the desktop (often finding myself looking at the Station Launcher again, which had been running in the background), and then a few seconds later an application crash dialog box comes up. The computer itself never crashes, nor do I get any kind of video driver reset - as soon as I close out the error box, everything is fine. This is on a Windows 7 64-bit system with 12 GB ram, using an Nvidia Geforce GTX 480 video card with the WHQL 258.96 drivers and a Creative Labs Sound Blaster X-Fi Titanium using the latest drivers. The system is rock solid beyond the EQ2 issue (and believe me, I've done a lot of stress testing using Memtest86+, Prime95, FurMark and so on to verify that).

Although this problem obviously does not affect my in-game play, it is fairly annoying - it has created a number of very large memory dumps in the windows reporting system, not to mention dozens of reports that I have to clear out on a regular basis. So I'm creating this thread to see if there is any way, given that this is happening so consistently and is not some one-time fluke, that I might be able to help the developers track down whatever the issue is and fix it.

Unfortunately, there does not appear to be a crash log being created in the EQ2 folder - all I have is the old crash log from something else from a few days ago. All I appear to have is what windows itself recorded:

SourceEQ2 Client ApplicationSummaryStopped workingDate‎10/‎27/‎2010 2:47 AMStatusNot reportedDescriptionFaulting Application Path: C:ProgramDataSony Online EntertainmentInstalled GamesEverQuest IIEverQuest2.exeProblem signatureProblem Event Name: APPCRASHApplication Name: EverQuest2.exeApplication Version: 1.0.0.1Application Timestamp: 4cc5fef0Fault Module Name: ntdll.dllFault Module Version: 6.1.7600.16559Fault Module Timestamp: 4ba9b29cException Code: c0000005Exception Offset: 00038c19OS Version: 6.1.7600.2.0.0.256.48Locale ID: 1033Additional Information 1: 45daAdditional Information 2: 45da224d2c10c3058ccc3d42e7caa869Additional Information 3: 4e3cAdditional Information 4: 4e3c502618194003d89a47f9683540e8Please let me know if there is any other information I can provide to help diagnose this (didn't include the DxDiag because of size, but can certainly post it if you want), anything I can run to capture more information about these crashes as they happen, and so on.
