So, after we do the Somborn haunted house, it's hinted that we have become vampires(of some sort).

And, after doing the Hedge Hollow, we now have a werewolf curse.

And then we have the final dialogue on the Nightmarish Illness quest:

Setri Lur'eth says to you, "Hello child. How is your friend?"You say to Setri Lur'eth, "He rests now."Setri Lur'eth says to you, "I assume you found the cure?"You say to Setri Lur'eth, "I'm afraid his only cure was death itself."Setri Lur'eth says to you, "I see. So you did find the cure after all. "You say to Setri Lur'eth, "You mean to tell me you knew that he would need to be killed in order to free him and, in time, myself as well from what ever curse he had?"Setri Lur'eth says to you, "I know a great many things. My wisdom comes from experience with this world. Some things are not always what they appear to be."You say to Setri Lur'eth, "I'm not sure I understand."Setri Lur'eth says to you, "In time you will... "

So, IF we are now cursed by both vampires and werewolves, what could we learn to understand in time?

We know that Mayong holds some sort of dominion over both creatures.

So, my shot in the dark says that:

Our vampire and werewolf curse will reappear somewhere down the line when we become Mayong's "destined ones" against Ages' End.

I don't believe every adventerer (PC) in the lore that goes through NotD is a Vampire and a Werewolf, at least not canonly. Would definitely throw kinks into the SL's on the RP servers for sure.

Well, if you do the haunted mansion in somborn, you are bitten by a vampire and you don't cast a reflection in the mirror and you are not cured afterwards. Hence, it's hinted that you have become a vampire of some sort.

The Hedge Hollow is pretty straight forward since you get bitten by an infected wolf and then eventually transform into a werewolf. And the quest dialogue that I included above clearly implies that you are still cursed afterwards.

In both cases, it's implied that we are cursed. (It may be dormant but we're cursed)

In regards to a subset of players contributing to canon lore in the game, it has happened before. One example would be Epic Repurcussions where not everyone has done the quest, but the result is considered to be canon to the story arc.

In time you will understand, things are not always as they appear to be.

Mechanically, everyone is a Vampiric Werewolf... or a vampire at the very least. Otherwise, people's reflections would show up in that whispy mirror...

Anyways, very very VERY rarely does anything relating to a holiday event actually relate to the rest of the game's lore. That dragon from Frostfell is so far the only real one, and even he's not a major character in anything going on, so the NoTD events don't relate to Mayong or anything else. They're just for fun.

Or, will just be a recuring theme, like the baby ice dragon growing up to be a major pitn

Just because they are just holiday events doesn't mean they can't have on-going repurcusions that only manifest during the holidays (btw, it's only the wispy and vampiric mirrors that don't cast a reflection, so maybe it's the mirrors that are vampires )

Don't forget that in Evernight Abbey, you become a vampire.

Also the 5 year anniversary event last year was pretty major.

And it's a bit presumptive to say in an authoritative matter that the "events don't relate to Mayong or anything else. They're just for fun."

And then there is Gninja's response.

I'm guessing that we won't hear anything else on this for now, but I'll add it to my list of threads/posts to reference when we are called upon to use our vampiric werewolf qualities in the service of the Dark Lord.

Hmm.. every adventurer in Norrath has been infected by Vampirism and that drives our insatiable need to kill stuff. We curiously comply with everything Mayong says, and he's the only foe we don't actually kill repeatedly.. hmm.

Nah, already had that insatiable need, why else would we feel the burning desire to slaughter thousands of deer? Vampirism just gave us the excuse for why we took a bath in their blood and wore the skins of sentients as loinclothes...

What? Htaed is the only one? Knew there was something wrong with that gnome

So, Mayong has subjugated every adventurer that has come into contact with him? Or - he has put the vampires in somborn up to the haunted house?

What are you sure are we supposed to be sure of are we.... What? Oh I'm so confused.... /lol

As far as we know, Mayong has absolutely nothing to do with this. I mean, Yeah, he does control the werewolves in Somborn, as well as the vampires in the area, but there's no indication that the ones inside that haunted house are loyal to him or if he's even involved or will be.

I'm not going to think too much into it, since I doubt anything will come of it. After all, this is the 2nd year the Hollow Hedge has been live and the 3rd for the Vampire Haunted House. Unlike E-Day where we always get something new, we really didn't this year in terms of progression. Just that Devotee quest.

The only thing you can take from the NoTD content for sure is that we're cursed. Honestly, anyone in the room suprised by this? Adventurers go around poking their nose into everything, messing with undead and exotic magics. Adventurers mess with Gods (both alive and dead) and think they are going to walk away from that without getting cursed?

Not only have we been turned into werewolves and vampires but we've also been infused with mythical energies, entered the mind of Miragul (and taken back peices of his mind with us as trophies!), been shrunk, time traveled, inflicted with a bloodthirsty rage for sentient life, exposed to the void, inhabited a void being, become a vessel for Harclave's rage, and bathed in the waters of the Fay'urn (if you've ever visited Living Tombs and took a swim...). You'd think a little of this would catch up to us. I guess we're earning a lot of divine favor for it not to eh?
