When raiding I notice that i start to lag, and the longer the fight, the more I lag. In fact, I have had times that the fight ended, but for 2-3 minutes after it ended, the fight is still going on on my computer. The voice chat is not lagged, just the fight/client information I am receiving. Since no one else in the raid is having this issue and since I have a pretty good solid setup on my computer, I can only asume it is connection lag. On that end I am forced to use satellite internet which generally has about a 1-2 sec lag which I can work with just fine since I can chain my spells and can see when a spell is about done recharging. But the bandwidth is limited, especially in evenings when more people are online and using the companies oversold and overbooked services.

Basically I was wondering about how much bandwidth I would need for a 4 group raid to keep that insane lag from happening so I can decide if upgrading to the highest bandwidth package will actually help or be a waste of time.

I read your post with great interest since I have had the same lag issue with no loss of voice chat etc.

Recently I updated the firmware (to 1.23NA) on my router (D-Link DIR-855.) This apparently cleared all of my settings and set defaults. It also would no longer take my config files from the previous firmware level. So, after I set up just the 2 laptops and 1 desktop on the network- I logged into the game. Viola! No more lag! I did have a phone/Wii/PS3/printer,and other computers no longer in the house set up on the router, before this firmware was updated. So I cant say if the firmware update helped more or clearing out my config.

At any rate my router lets me save the config to a file and I have saved this bare bones config. As I add components and tweak the config I will save those files to a different folder. Then if I have lag I can go back to the basics to see if there is a difference.

I raided last night in Labs and Palace and no lag.

Yes I use a wireless N/G network.

My ping times from Atlanta area are in the 150-160 range mostly.

Here's hopng this helps!

Ris

Thanks! I didn't think of it as being a router issue so didn't even think of looking there. I only recently started raiding so never really noticed this problem before since most fights tended to be short compared to raid fights.
