I'm looking for input from coercers and illys on their effectiveness, and survivability in BGs. I know I hate to see them, but I'd like some first hand experience as I'm looking for my next toon to equip for BGs in T4.

Their DPS at T4 is lacking for the most part and I find often times I am an annoying roadblock than a conquerer in the BGs on my Coercer. If I get someone 1v1 and it's not a healer I do alright can eat most scouts and he is in nothing more than MC atm so his survivability could be improved upon.

If you enjoy a challenge and not afraid of deaths then I whole heartily engourage you to give it a go. It was a nice refreashing change of pace for me (as the classes I originally roled in PVP when naggy opened ended up being some of the more powerful classes, I like to know that I can succeed using a more challenging class as well.)

Put as many points into the str line as you possibly can, on either class; get a decent 1h weapon and mash people from range. Put points into adding more triggers to Hostage on coercers, and the second you do that you'll absolutely mash people before they can even react in that tier.

From t4-t8 my coercer (went coercer at 39, was illy 1-38 ) in open world PvP mashed people. It was crazy, I was owning orange-conned sks.

Also, invest in mending adorns for your primary, secondary, and ranged slot. This improves your survivability tremendously.

Appreciate the replys, and fairly good news I must say. I was kind of looking forward to being the most annoying player in the tier lol. I rolled an SK when I came back without doing much research and didn't realize how much of a powerhouse they can become. So needless to say, anything I change to will be a bit more challenging. And I just really want to be able to hassle healers.

Anybody else who'd like to offer up their experiences or offer and tips I'm all ears, and somewhat excited to start ticking people off.

It doesn't take long to become a sought after target on a coercer because everyone hates to be stunned, stifled and mezzed. Coercers also put out some respectable damage (not ranger wizzy respectable) so while your enemy is standing there looking at you with the deer in the headlights look in their eyes unable to do anything you can burn them down if you time everything right. If they break free and get ahold of you they will mess you up with a quickness tho, especially scouts.

Once you get some of the BG gear that extra mit helps alot in surviving the random knock em around like a rag-doll, but if you get a ranger or brig on you or an assassin the fight quickly turns in their favor, usually they are not alone and will tagteam you till your dead. I have seen a few coercers out there that were just flat out nasty to get in a fight with and they earned much respect from me. Big thing, AA, gear with high mit, sta, int, and expert and master level spells. What Ralph said about the mending adorns is very important.

I have had a lot of fun on my coercer and I am not a real threat to anyone, but well placed group stun or mez at the right time can make as much difference as the tank firing up a group knock-back at the relic.

You want to be an annoyance, Coercer is the way to go.

Well so far, it's either been extremely fun or terribly frustrating(but still somewhat fun distracting some people entirely as they chase me around) playing a coercer. I've by no means built my coercer up to be formidable but tossing around crowd control is almost addicting. And really, nothing is more satisfying than locking down a healer while your crew spikes him down.

My coercer does pretty good in BG's. usually top three in dps/kills. I die, sometimes. rarely if im 1 vs 1. but i die mostly to 3 plus scouts on me at once. Or the occasional super twink.

They are fun. I slaughter people fast lol. I never tried an Illusionist.
