Just a heads up Sony...

The iksar monks training in West Freeport next to the Freeport Militia speak Sathirian.

We can onlyy get that language from the "Mysterious Black Tome" in Fens (pages on the ground...)

I'm sure you meant this lore to be accessible to ALL levels of people walking thru WFP...

Maybe it's intentional? Your first challenge as a young iksar monk is to dodge a zone full of mobs that are 70 levels higher than you. Survive that , and you are truly deserving of the ultimate reward, a bunch of wasted AA because the collection quest is 70 levels higher than you as well.

Well, it makes sense that they would speak Sathirian, because they were sent there by Dominus Rile himself, but it is annoying to new characters who wish to hear what they have to say. I wouldn't be surprised if this is changed, but you might want to change the topic title to reflect that there is a problem.

Well, I'll ask you guys then - do you want it changed? I thought it was cool to have them speak their own language, since they are directly from Kunark. Since this is lore-driven content, it seemed to make sense. But I agree that young players might feel they miss out on the lore since they can't speak the language.

If you guy want, we can have them pick up common from the locals by the next GU.

If Dominus Rile wants the monks to be teaching the residents of Freeport, then it would be in HIS best interests to make sure people can understand what they're saying or they'll never get any new recruits.

Rather than "Common" or "Satirian" they could speak "Sebilisian".

Common would be the best choice...

While I like that different languages are used in the game, most languages not Common are easily obtainable from the scribes in town...I want new monks to feel welcome to embrace this new addition to Freeport. Besides, it doesnt hurt to also have the NPCs throw out generic comments in Sathirian, kind of like how Germans say "Guten Tag" or French say "au revoir".

Can't display two languages at once during a converstation and all that. Plus, once you know the language, you no longer really see what they're speaking.

Yeah exactly. I was thinking something along the lones of ...

"Greetings, Insert Name Here, allow me to explain why monks are the shiznit in Freep now..." ---- Common

<< "Woo Lin, keep your arm up!" >> ---- In Sathirian

"Excuse me while I verbally abuse my students and then explain some obvious lore to you" ---- Common

If I get the language quest done, all of this would be in Common.

Awesome. They all speak Draconic now. I thought that would be fine since everyone has finished "Speak Like a Dragon" now, right?

Okay, we're cool.

Nah, if he really hated people he would make the Iksar speak Stout.

But Stout is a great language, nothing wrong with it at all.

It could have been worse. It could have been Tik-Tok back before you could learn the language.

Guys are a bunch of wussy lol, it kills me when people rant when dev stick to what would be if they came from that area instead of making them speak common. Want this game to be more like WOW keep complaining about silly stuff. How about a NPC person next to them that tranlates what they are saying now that would be cool and it would keep it in game lore wise instead of this; Heya we came from the far remote regions of Kunark and YES THATS RIGHT WE SPEAK COMMON TONGUE.

No, not really. The devs would have to manually write out the Sathirian into English and have us guess what this new word means.

Or take your meds...

No one wants the game to be WoW. No one even mentioned WoW. So please, if players are being helpful and offering ideas to developers about how to improve the immersion of Everquest 2, then take it with a grain of salt that (a) we aren't talking out of our butt and (b) we care enough about this game that improving a slight feature to improve the new player experience is IMPORTANT to us.

Have him start in Sathirian and then switch it Common like is he still remembering that he is speaking in an area that does not know the language.

Yeah, have him start speaking in Slitherin, and if you have learnt the language great, if not you answer him with a blank look (you know, the usual "..." reply) and he switches to Common
