Hey guys! Been playing solid for like a year with no problems until a few days ago. My girlfriend and I share an account, and she came in and told me she was in Nektulos and and the game lagged hard, then crashed. When she signed back in under her character we recieved this message E:/live/eq2/framework/core/devices/src/Directx9RenderDevice.cpp (16877) DirectX Error (D3DERR_InvalidCall) 00B10306 00000013

I've been all over these boards and it seems recently that many of us are getting errors similar to mine. I was worried it could be the video card or whatnot, but I decided to try my main out. I logged on under my character and played for hours with no problem whatsoever. In fact, all of our alts worked fine in varies zones. My gf needed some stuff for a quest from Nektulous so I zoned there without incident and ran to the bridge that she was crossing when she crashed. What a surprise...I did too. I know see the same error with my character but the rest of the alts play fine (didn't try taking a third to Nektulos but have tried nearly every other zone)

I tried to contact a Sony represenative and sat in a chat queue in position 3 for THREE HOURS and then it closed.... Opened a new one and I was in position 40 something. I lost my patience and emailed them... of course there hasn't been a timely response so I figued I would ask all of the people on the boards because you guys seem to know your stuff well and are much quicker to respond!

Any help would be tremendous, even if it doesn't work. Just an FYI I load from the launcher, have updated driver since the problem to no avail, and even reinstalled EQ2. Also, there hasn't been any downloads from Microsoft or other party in the last 8 days (I checked). THANKS TO ALL!

Unfortunatly, it looks like you've tried everything that's been sugjested. When I put in my ticket Tuesday, a TSR responded (on SUNDAY!!!) but his solutions didn't work. They were to get the latest version of direct X that your computer will support, update all drivers you can... and that's it. From the other post you probably ran into, they sugjest uploading the 'new' launcher but that wasn't much help.

There has been very little communtication from the staff, Rothgar commented they were working on a fix, and there is a hotfix + maintence tomorrow. So hoepfully 'fixed an issue causing occasinal zone crashes' is thier solution; but hard to say.

If that isn't the fix (anger rising at the thought that it isn't) it's possible to play some of your other alts but you have to avoid SO MUCH content, a step to far can crash out or cause graphical issues then CRASH+BANG... no more EQ2 on that char.

Thanks for the input! I appreciate it. Its just weird how all the other characters work fine, and the rest don't it could be a total coincidence, but it seems like there have been a ton of these crashes lately. Maybe I'm just noticing the newer ones, who knows. This is like the third major issue I've had in the last three months. Last month I bought a game card from Best Buy and it didn't work. Best Buy let me even exchange it which was surprising. I went through like three and none worked. The TSR who helped basically said,"We can see they don't work. Maybe they recieved a bad batch of cards ". They gave me a number. I called it and they said it only deals with merchants and told me to tell Best Buy, have them call this same company, then I might get help. I said screw it, ate the costs, and bought the game cards from Game Stop and had no problems.

I know this wasn't neccessarily Sony's fault, but it is still frustrating when you pay to play a game, and there are so many errors that have happened recently that eat your subscription, but you can't play. I know it was WAY back in the day, but it seems when I played EQ1 there weren't nearly as many issues. As Station Cash, EQX, Etc., have been added, it seems there are new major flaws weekley...

Thanks again Shadowedwolf for the advice.

Try this,

Make a copy of your game ini file, then delete it. Then repatch, it will be defaults but maybe it will allow you in.

You can also try deleting the files in your asset cache directory.

As always if you delete make sure you repatch.

Last idea, run a full file scan, maybe do that last as it can take a while.
