I was really thrilled to see that there's some pretty cool lore behind the new Assassin guild in Qeynos, and it inspired me to want to try out the other side of the fence to see how it felt. So I hopped on test to give it a go, and was puzzled by what I found.

In order to switch my neutral class while staying in the same city, I still have to go through a questline where I'm essentially thrown out of the city in disgrace... only to faction grind right back in? Is my character so shy and withdrawn that he feels like he can't talk to these assassins until he tries to tear down the very same city they're trying to protect in order to get in with them?

In summary: Same-city betrayal is currently really dumb.

It really, really doesn't make a lick of sense from a lore standpoint or from a gameplay perspective. They really need to add a "not leaving your city" class-change quest.

What does this have to do with the History and Lore board? This is a complaint about the gameplay mechanics.

Because changing classes in this fashion doesn't makes any sense from a storyline perspective - it's a jolting inconsistency in the difference between what your character should be doing to get in nice with these people vs. what the game is forcing you to do via gameplay mechanics.

I hemmed and hawed about where to put it, but figured since it was more a storyline complaint than me actually caring about the difficulty of betrayal that I should put it here. No good?

No, not really. You're complaining how the game forces you to be kicked out of your own city just to go back and change classes. This really has no impact on any stories or lore. I agree, it is a stupid mechanic, but that's all.

Anyways, I'm just pointing out that it doesn't really belong on this board. You admit that you weren't quite sure where to put it. Nothing wrong with that.

Its a lore issue since the lore doesnt make sense. It is not broken. It has no gameplay difficulty issues. It is simply a situation where the quest doesnt make ANY SENSE lore wise.

What an awkward conversation that would be.

Eye of Bayle Recruiter: Well, we'd love to have you help us out with our cause of protecting Qeynos, but could you first please sell information to our opposing city, destroy the city's shield generators, murder several Qeynosian citizens and get thrown out of the city first?

Ranger: Wait, what?

Eye of Bayle Recruiter: Yeah, and after that, we'll need you to pick up some trash and stuff and kill some of the people you just helped out.

Ranger: Why? Why would I ever do that? Why would you even ask me to do that!?

Eye of Bayle Recruiter: It's sort of a hazing thing.
