I got "sent back in time" in the game

<p>I was playing today around 3AM, and about 3 times I was gathering resources. I had 2 tier 6 roots and an ironwood. And all of a sudden, the game returns me to the character sign on screen. When I log back in, I am back where I am about 10 minutes ago, before I had harvested 2 rares. So, I open a support ticket. Then......</p><p>I do some more harvesting, and almost at exactly the same point in the Sinking Sands where it happened last time, the same thing happens again. Heh, I don't suppose this is part of the game, that there is some mob, or force which can send me into a time loop (what would you think of that idea?) I am back at the exact same point again, minus my rares and other common mats I have harvested, put in another ticket.</p><p>Third time it happens again, but this time I didn't even move from where I signed in. I'm guessing the game must save periodically and it returned me to where it had last saved, unintentionally, kinda sucks losing my harvested mats though.</p><p>On a side note, if the game saved periodically, then why is it that it can bring you back to the exact point where you exited the game, and not at an earlier, or slightly earlier point where the game saved?</p>

<p><cite>the_snare wrote:</cite></p><blockquote><p>On a side note, if the game saved periodically, then why is it that it can bring you back to the exact point where you exited the game, and not at an earlier, or slightly earlier point where the game saved?</p></blockquote><p>Think of it like this - you're working on a Word document.  You occasionally save it even though you are still working on it.  If you close it normally it'll ask you to save, which you do so that you don't lose anything at all.  If your computer crashes though instead of leaving the program normally you'll be back at wherever you last saved and have lost progress.  The server saves ever so often 'just in case', but in the event the server crashes then it loses all the data going back to the last time a save happened.  When you log out normally however the server saves your data then and there just like Word does.</p>
