So the last few days I've been experiancing issues with my computer where the eq2 client application would run into an error and shut down my computer. It could happen after only a couple minutes of play... or hours.

My friend thought it could be dirty, causing it to overheat, so I unplugged it to clean it out more throughly, and when I plugged it back in I went to go try some again...

Now when I try to load eq2 I get a Fatal Error.

The message:

Everquest II has detected an unrecoverabe error and must shut down

<verify>E:liveeq2frameworkcoredevicessrcdirectX9renderdevi ce.cpp(16877):directX error.(D3DERR_Invalidcall)00b0fe56 00000011

After the last patch where there was direct X issues I followed the advice on that forum. I ran a full scan today after getting the error the first time. I run with a defualt UI and am using launch pad to start the game up.

Any assistance would be apperciated, as with work and school I don't have the time to take it to my friends place for them to work on it...

I'm having the same exact problem

My friend thought it was the gfx/video card(s) that needed an upgrade, so I went to get the upgrade... and still the same problem...

I'll add that EQ2 opens to the load screen, goes through the loadings but the screen goes black, comes back, fades colors then the error pops up as soon as it says 'updating char into zone' or whatever that last 'step' is right before you get your char into the zone

I've already lost a day of play... this is quite frustrating

Update:

Since today's hotfix, I've been able to log MOST of my toons. I've not hopped every single toon as I don't have the time at the moment, but everytime I go to log the toon in Maj'Dul I still get the error.

I deleted the cache, logincache (as a GM recommended), and all maj dul files, ran the patcher, and ran the full file scan. My drivers are up to date, I updated directx and nothing seems to help. Still having this issue. This is the error message I get.Everquest II has detected an unrecoverabe error and must shut down<verify>E:liveeq2frameworkcoredevicessrcdirectX9renderdevi ce.cpp(16877):directX error.(D3DERR_INVALIDCALL)00b10306 00000009I cannot zone into maj dul to get the update for the new Nights of the Dead quest lol, so any help is appreciated.

Wow... I sent in a request for help Tuesday and still haven't recieved a reply from a GM...

At anyrate, this seems to be a common problem affecting those who use windows XP...http://forums.station.sony.com/eq2/...topic_id=488721

Unfortuantly, doesn't look like there is any hope for a weekend fix... bummer

Have you tried reinstalling DirectX 9.0c? I've provided a link for it below. Give it a shot and let me know if it fixes the problem for you.

http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/...&displaylang=en

Reinstalling directX does not fix the issue.

Nor does any of the other fixes sadly.. i looked through the archives of tech support.. tried the old solutions posted to a very similar issue from 2007 with exactly the same error, only that time it was from D: instead of E: but both pointing to a SOE drive.

I firmly believe that something in the coding of last GU messed up the DX9 settings serverside. Since DX10 users have no issues like this at all, in other words.. the reason only XP users seem to suffer this bug.

Aye, I reinstalled DirectX with no change. I can play for a bit on toon A... game gets all goofy and freezes up... crashes.... then no longer can load and play toon A.

Generally the problem plays out like this for me...-Play around, run around... screen goes black... comes back, disappears... comes back... run some more... then game freezes up and colors begin to shift, like someone is giggling the cord of a moniter, normal color and muted color... it'll do that for a few mins, eventually I'll alt+ctrl+del to shut down eq2 because NOTHING response... and then I can no longer log on the toon it happened on.

This problem is pretty common in Maj'Dul... that area from where you zone in all the way to the palace causes the screen to cut to black, and trying to approach the library causes the freezing. Happens quite a bit in Gorowyn's crafting area, Anotnica highway near Vhalen's tower... just happened in Loping Plains.

Out of curiosity, which game launcher are you using? If you're not using the one found here: http://launch.soe.com/eq2 then give this one a shot and let's see if this helps the problem.

I downloaded the new launcher to try and fix the crashes, but its for extended, how does this help the live crashes. Still crashing out of game when it tries to laod the charector into the zone. olny one toon is playable at this time and that one crashes after a few minutes. As noted in the other crash thread. XP sp3 with a radeon 5770 relaoded direct x 9 no go.

Using the standard launcher... Same one the comes with the game... Defualt... Whatever you wanna call it. New one did nothing though. Game still crashes out. Since Tuesday, on both accounts, toons that crash I can no longer log into, and the list of toons I can play is getting smaller and smaller... In one case I was on less than 5minutes when the crash hit...

Same here, I either freeze in the game and have to just shut it down, or when I log back on it gives me the D3Drr_invalidcall for the directx failure. I've tried everything also, no help has to be the last few updates as I was running fine before.

Another toon stuck, this time Enchanted Lands. Awesome.

oh, and Hi Roo =)

Update: Ok, so I play on Atari mode pretty much and someone suggested that maybe my graphics were too low and that is why I am having issues. So I set my main settings to extreme performance, which in turn raised my overall graphics settings as I had lowered them from the extreme performance setting. Anyway, I was able to log my stuck toon in EL just fine. I had got another toon stuck in Maj Dul a couple days ago on a different account, so I decided to try the same thing for that toon. What do you know, it worked. I was able to log that toon in without issue. So, I dont know what it was about my settings that directx didnt like or how it was fixed but it seems to have to do with graphics settings for the game. Don't know if this will help anyone else, but Im happy I will be able to get my NotD quest update now lol.

I get the message :

Unrecoverable error - eq2 needs to shut down etc :

e:liveeq2frameworkcoredevicessrcdirectx9renderdevi ce.cpp(16877):00b102d00000004

From the sounds of it reloading devices hasnt worked for people and this has been going on for some time?

Thanks for your time

Still getting this crash error. And it never did this before a relatively recent GU so I'm almost positive it's something SOE did. And no, trying to download DirectX 9 won't work, if you're using Windows 7 you probably have DirectX 11 and the DirectX patcher will tell you you already have an equivalent version and cancel the (DirectX 9) download.

[Removed for Content]!!" at that point i knew it was the card for sure. only time i seen that happen before was when i burnt out a video card overclocking it.

so here's the link to the 9.0c DirectX for june in case anyone wants it and also check your system itself it may be the problem.

Microsoft DirectX End User Runtime 2010
