when i cast a SPELL with sk or paladin, my autoattack is going active.

i tried some other classes, but it seems only to happen to sks and paladins.

not a big problem? well there is this one mob in icy keep odaufe or whatever hes spelled.

if you hit him with a meleeattack you get hurt. 2-3 hits and you are dead if your healers are sleeping.

its a real pain in the eel to run circles around this mob to get out of autoattack range or disable autoattack after each hit.

before patch X you werent allowed to autoattack when you removed your weapon, but now you are able to hit with your fists. so the no weapon trick is obsolete.

is there a way to diable the auto-autoattack when CASTING a SPELL?

yes yes, icykeep, noone goes there, let a caster or healer tank, blah blah.

but is there a way to disable it?

um you shouldnt be able to hit with your fists.

Take off your weapon and target an npc/training dummy. Does your combat arts all turn grey/unusable?

Macro this to the abilities:

/autoattack 0

It will let you cast the spell then immediately turns off auto attack.

If its the fight Im thinking of, I toss Amends on a T1 DPS, then just cast my spells. For my auto attack I use my ranged auto. It will do nothing in melee (too close of course) but if I loose hate and the mob runs off, an arrow is automatically shot out... I don't know about you, but my bow hits like a train made from cast-iron. Agro is almost always instantly snapped back. For a melee weapon I toss on the slowest delayed weapon I have, just in case I do have to use a melee attack, I have plenty of time to hit tilda "~" (to turn off auto melee). Ive even taken my weapon completely off (empty slot) just so I don't hit any melee abilities as well.

I love tanking that fight.

it used to be:

remove weapon, taunt, cast, cast, cast, no problem

now its:

cast, autoattack, deactivate autoattack, cast, lose aggro, rescue, cast, autoattack, deactivate autoattack, lose aggro, snap, deactivate autoattack, repeat, etc, pp.

or:

cast, run, cast, run, cast, run, cast, run, but this makes healers angry

alternative: let a healer or caster tank, but i dont think this is what the devs had in mind.

Till reading this i was convinced that removing your weapon was a fine solution. We did Icy this way with a crusader tanking with his spells.

Since when can you attack with your fists ? Last time i forgot my artisan kneedle i was unable to damage mobs (my piercing skill being 0).

I think that using spells but no CA will work, but most taunts are CA ;-(.
