Evening, folks...

After a near 3 year hiatus I have decided to try the game once again. I've installed the latest version (Sentinel's Fate) and right from the word go I had issues.

Of course part of it involved the launcher itself.

After hunting through the forums, I found the fix for that and thankfully it worked.

Now however, after downloading all the updates, I have a new issue.

Once everything has downloaded I hit the launch button. It shows launching for about a minute then it goes back to launch game.

I've been searching the forums for a fix to this and I'm currently getting nowhere. I really don't want to think that I've just tossed away nearly $60.

Fact is I'm using a powerhouse computer (quad core, 8 gig ram, 4 gig video card etc.) and Windows 7.

I'm kind of figuring that it's got to do with Windows 7 after all the time I've checked on the forums.

Any suggestions? I really don't want to have to call Sony on Monday about this.

Thanks

See if you can locate the old launcher by using the knowledge base, I know there used to be info on it there, I have what sounds like a similar PC and WiN 7, I am using the old launcher / patcher and I fire right up.

I am running into this exact problem, I have a brand new computer strangely similar to yours, (quad core cpu, 8g ram, crossfire high end video cards, and windows 7 of course) I have been trying to find a fix to this, and come up empty handed. The station launcher will launch Star wars galaxies, but not EQ2.

And I refuse to believe that the only solution is to use an old launcher. Is there no compatibility options similar to vista that i don't yet know about? Is SOE ever going to actually keep up to date with their software? (don't answer that one)

If anyone has found a fix for this yet, pls post it here.

UPDATE

After much searching I have found the problem, and the fix that worked for me is in this link. Download and run this updater and it should install updates automatically.

http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/...&displaylang=en

Works with windows 7 64bit OS (I ran with administrative rights, but don't know if its required)

The problem lies with directx 11. The station launcher requires files from directx 9 to launch EQ2 (specifically "dll" files), and these files are not included in the directx 10, and directx 11 programs. At first I tried to download directx 9 directly and windows 7 told me to get bent. Even with administrative rights it will not allow you to mess around with the directx folders (you probably can, but I'm no computer tech). After trying several sites and downloaded files, I came accross this link, and it worked like a charm, downloading the updates and files needed directly to directx 11 folders. I hope this helps anyone else out with the same problem

Edrid
