I can't see any other thread talking abotu this problem but I made a little experience.

in my house I have 800 counting items + approximatly 300 Not-counting items (I collect books...) for a total of approximatly "1100 total items" I tried to put a book in the moving crate...

Indeed still 800 items and 299 not-counting ones... but the moving crate has a FIXED capacity of 800.. and the book DOES count in those 800....

How will this be handled if I try to move to a new house? since the crate counts "everything" and it is limited to 800, not checking if an item is counting or not...

Not to mention no house has 800 items at the beginning, it requires an expander... which won't be there the first time you buy/get your new house...

That will be a problem... Did I miss something? I can't imagine storing 300 items by myself in my banks or inventory for the time of the transfer... It would require a mule character at least...

We were just wondering this in Homeshow channel last night! I am VERY curious to know the answer to this, so I hope someone can shed some light!

Also, I wonder what happens if you put your, say, 500 items in the house, then 500 items in the moving crate, and load a layout that takes the items out of the moving crate? What does it do?

Should log in on test, with a test copied character, and find out?

If you move, all of the items SHOULD end up in your moving crate in the new house, even if the item count goes above the crate limit. However, you shouldn't be allowed to place any more items until you get under the max count for the house.

As far as loading layouts, items will only be moved out of the crate if there is room to place them. So if you have 500 in the house and 500 in the crate, you can load a layout that swaps items, but you cannot end up with more than 500 in the house when its done.

Hmmm, so it sounds like a complicated little book shuffle...

I wonder if Xi is still on test copy! She has 750 books in a little tiny inn room...

Also, glad that you guys already planned for the layout thing!!

Thanks Rothgar!

[EDIT]

Okay, Xixi has 750 books in a 200 limit (none of them count). Hit "pack contents" and only 200 went into a moving crate. So unfortunately, moving crates don't care whether books count or not! Yikes!

ACK! I noticed a while ago that the crate counted books, but not being able to pack more in the crate for moving is going to be a big problem. I currently have loads of books. Thankfully, I'm not planning on moving anytime soon. But when I do, that may be a pretty big problem.
