Heroes' Festival has been activated on Test and Test Copy!

The Heroes' Festival has begun! A call has gone out to all Norrathian adventurers to commemorate the six years of questing, raiding, tradeskilling, house decorating and socializing. Celebrators, happy to share in the festivities, can be found in North and South Qeynos or West and North Freeport.

You may spot some odd things, due to the overlap of both the Nights of the Dead and Heros' Festival running at the same time, right now. But keep in mind that this will not be the case when it goes live. Currently, the event is scheduled to run on live servers, 11/19/10 through 11/30/10.

If you have any feedback or bugs, please post it in this thread so that we will be sure to see it. Thank you!

~Kaitheel

Ok just to make sure I'm not missing anything:

1. Firework quest is back and repeatable (just did it, works fine)2. Shattered Remains can be done once again by going to Thumore (I assume the full series if you haven't done it before?)3. I found 2 new quests in North Qeynos, still need to run them4. 5th anniversary paintings did not make a return? (*pout* hehe)5. You mentioned South Qeynos in your OP, but I'm not finding anything that starts there

Also, like mentioned above, the word should be spelled "Heroes" not "Heros". Will be running the new quests soon here!

I get the impression that Heros' (with the ' might be indicating a person by that name (in honor of, maybe?) instead of a misspelling.

But I've been wrong before.

Good stuff so far! Just a couple of little comments, not meaning to nitpick but you did ask for feedback.

The ingame mail says celebrators are in North and South Qeynos. Well I happened to head off to South Qeynos first and was a little confused. As far as I could tell there aren't any celebrator NPCs in South Qeynos? Only shinies and quest updates in there, the NPCs to start everything are in North Qeynos (which is where I tried going next).

I actually found celebrating NPCs in New Halas first, but they don't seem to do anything, or say anything helpful when hailed. That's a little confusing, until you find the mail.

For "Missing Decorations in Qeynos" the 4th location in the list, behind the stables, had a couple of us stuck for awhile. The others are all on roads and such and are pretty obvious when you run across them, but that one is hidden away behind a building. Why decorate a gloomy spot at the back of a building anyway?

please bring back paintings from last year, maybe in different frames that we all know 5th yr is unique set, then rest of others are not originals. how simple is that???

The inventory item "pack of magical paper lanterns" was not removed when I completed Missing Decorations in Qeynos.

Aggressive Advertising in Qeynos - it's using up one of the fliers when you hit a repeat person, could this be changed to not use a flier?

Just noticed this--after finishing the Qeynos Band Aid quest, the band members are all there playing their instruments. However, Gustave Roberts and Susan Stout are there twice.

Shattered Remains - in "A Memory of Sand" currently with a level 85, the mobs are level 80. This was the only instance with that problem.

Ok I finished Shattered Remains now. Just one confusing bit:

For the Unrest instance, Thumore talks about finding the shard within the maze so I spent ages looking around the actual maze. Then I thought "omg do I have to repeat the entire Unrest instance to get the shard?" Then another tester tipped me off to go to the graveyard.

I know this quest isn't new this year, but this step could use a little tweaking for people who aren't simply re-running it from memory. It's a rather open, "free to roam" instance compared to the others, and the text in the quest window doesn't give any help to narrow down an area. Worse is that the dialogue on the NPC (I even went back to re-read it looking for a clue) is just misleading!

Thumore also talks about you having found it within the maze when you take the shard back to him too. If he felt like saying something along the lines of "amongst the graves" instead, that would be a little more helpful of him.

If you did Thumore's Quest last Hero's Festival you seem to bypass the original quest-giver (Who has no idea who Thumore is just like after you finished the quest last time) and got to Thumore himself.

I have no problem with that, I do wish that Thumore would remember you from last time, and have at least alternate dialogue for those who have returned.

Possibly even a part two?

While I like the quest for the party favors, Gnolls as the party crashers? Sure there is a History...but also the Brell Quest-line back before Faydark makes me wonder if the Dwarves and the Gnolls have been having peace talks on behalf of Antonia and Qeynos.

Orcs I can see.

Found another bug:

The "Qeynos Heroes's Festival Band Flier" says it can be sold as a status item, it has the usual status item text on it. But the status NPCs won't buy it, at least the one in New Halas won't. Mistress Thora <Purveyor of Artifacts> is where I usually go to sell all my status loot items.

On one of my characters, I went into the bank and it auto updated but I never saw or fought the guy. The other character has never seen him at all and no update.
Heyya everyone!

Thanks again for testing another event so thoroughly! I wanted to let you know that many changes and adjustments have been made due to your feedback and reports, but it may be a while before you see them due to the update tomorrow. Never-the-less, I wanted to let you know of some of the more noticeable changes coming (sometime).

Heroes' Festival* The in-game mail announcing Heroes' Festival now says celebrators are in North Qeynos and West Freeport.* For the quest "Shattered Remains" the zone "A Memory of Sand" now scales above 80.* The item "pack of magical paper lanterns" are now removed when you complete the quest "Missing Decorations in ..."* The "Heroes's Festival Band Flier" no longer claims to be a status item.* Two copies of Susan Stout and Gustave Roberts will no longer appear at the same time while on or have completed the "Band Aid" quests.* The quests "Band Aid" second step in the journal now says "knock some sense".* Gimit now gives a bit more direction as to where to meet him for the fight during the "Band Aid" quests, if you speak with him again.* Those on the correct stage of the "Band Aid" quests should now get quest credit for Gimit's defeat even if he is slain by a pet or a fellow group member.

Thank you, again!

~Kaitheel

Those people will be upset about not being able to get said prizes if you did actually put in new ones this year.

I'm happy that it's cumulative since that means even if you hid an uber prize at 25 repeat I'd be able to get there without having to drive a stake through my brain in 1 sitting and could instead eventually get it in 5 years .. or really 4 years for my accounts. That just pisses me off and makes me think you guys don't value MY game time for reward vs effort and that you guys are just lazy for putting in such quick & easy Quest looping. *shrug* *sadpanda*

I think I say this every time you guys (meaning ALL devs, 'cause Domino gave us two for Tinkerfest!) bring out a hidden reward quest for a repeater and it doesn't seem to do much good. With the whole new F2P thing starting up, this is another easy way open up a few things for new players to purchase for their houses. A friend who quit soon after DoF came out just now came back to the game and has rerolled his paladin. He's been spending many hours in his new Halas house and is going to town with sprucing it up.

It's not like you guys have to spend a lot of time, effort, and money into making new items, because they are already done! Why put so much effort into something like this, when you only have things like this for a ONE TIME ONLY EVENT? I can see having them on the merchant during these 2 weeks of the holiday (like you do with other holiday events), but to say "oh no, those were for the 5th Year Anniversary event, and you'll never ever get a chance to buy them again!"

Just put 'em in game again for the length of the holiday event and make your customers happy versus grumpy and angsty.

forgot to add last statement to staff team, if it is players making lot of popular demand because it is favorites, i think it is more healthy to allow rest of paintings to be on limited time or move rest of it on station's marketplace, but maybe in new frames to keep original 5th year as unique, switch to plain frames or engraved.

just look at those many players wishing it could come true.

maybe give poll and see numbers of votes.

please dont let players down and get feel shut away due to factors of limited time, required status points, and huge roadblock required high guild level. no one was able to get from 20 lvl to 80 lvl (last year) in a week or less just to meet requirement to purchase paintings, these shows poor planning by SOE staffs, it not player faults who decided limited time on merchants, it was you folks put on merchants and suddenly yank it out before other players get chance to buy them when they work hard trying.

Seperate post for a different subject ..

Again .. and I am begging here .. I ask for the Dream Shard (Shattered Remains) quest to be changed!

Please, PLEASE, change it so that the Void tears in space (whatever they are) are INSIDE the original void zone where you talk to Thumore!

1 - I dislike having to zone so many times for a single quest.

Zone to Thumore, Zone to City, Zone to 1st Dream, Zone to City, Zone to Thumore, Zone to City, Zone to 2nd Dream, Zone to City, Zone to Thumore, Zone to City, Zone to 3rd Dream, Zone to City, Zone to Thumore, Zone to City, Zone to 4th Dream, Zone to City, Zone to Thumore, Zone to City, Zone to 5th Dream, Zone to City, Zone to Thumore, Zone to City

Woot! done! rinse & repeat for next character!

For those that don't want to sit there and count, that's 22 zonings for 1 quest.

2 - While it's never a big deal on Test on Live, there are lots of Rude and unintentionally Rude people standing around -and- in the Void Tear in the City. This makes it hard to actually get into the Void at times. Running 1 character through in Q, yesterday there was an afk Ranger on a horse that was exactly centered in the Void. Made finding that tiny pixel that actually triggers Zoning a bit on the annoying side. Similar instance over in FP with my Evil only this time it was a Ogre on a Rhino .. do you know how BIG an Ogre on a Rhino can get?

It's too late for this year obviously .. just making sure the Devs know I'm not asking for a bloody miracle for this week .. but next year can we please get it so that when you go into meet Thurmore, HE opens up each new Dream Void Tear. Or, could even add in Void Tears surrounding him. Make them look like a Cross between Druid Rings & Void Tears, in that they'll have a snap shot of the each Dream and of course the Return to [Q / FP] City inside each of the Void Tears.

That way we'd only have to Zone to Thumore, Zone to 1st Dream, Zone to Thumore, Zone to 2nd Dream, Zone to Thumore, Zone to 3rd Dream, Zone to Thumore, Zone to 4th Dream, Zone to Thumore, Zone to 5th Dream, Zone to Thumore, Zone to City!

Still a lot of zoning but 12 zones is still much better than 22 zonings!!

Please & Thank you!
