Arcanum Revealed (Game Update 58) will be released on Tuesday, October 12, for both EQII and EQ2X.

One of the many changes coming with this update is within The Vasty Deep, a group of dungeons that were introduced with Sentinel's Fate.

Players who venture into The Vasty Deep may now have to face even more villainous monsters than before. Each time a new instance is created in one of the three dungeons, there's a chance that the group entering the zone will trigger one of three additional creatures. These new creatures will give players the opportunity to earn new loot items, as well as an increased chance of gaining master spells.

So , if I'm reading this right...Arcanum Revealed isn't the release of a new higher level dungeon we were promised to keep interest going in the game , after 6 months of absolutely no content updates , but the addition of a % chance for 1 extra named in the VD instances?

This update has me feeling twitchy given the goodwill last week of character slots it seems such a shame to waste it all with another criminal LU,still i hope to be proved wrong.

IDK why they added this stupid mechanic back in the game. Pretty much everybody hated the idea of rare spawn mobs last time they did it.

I don't dare to post any news on the board of our force any more, 'cause anything that was published about GU58 created just more mocking:

Inability to disable the welcome screen

Still no sign of the dungeon promised for GU57

7 year veteran reward being only a house and nothing with at least minimal impact on most gameplay situations.

cast bars for mobs showing you exactly when to precast your cures / use your interrupts (taking away the need to look at the mobs)

That you killed the gameplay as a healer in PvP and now even less healer will move up to the hussle of playing BGs.

That you finally added the lore to the changes you made a whole GU before and that the selection which classes are neutral and which are not does not make sense.

That you already rename double attack but you don't change the functionality and so will mislead many players, that the changes are already active.

The implication that we did not get GU57b as everyone was already mad, 'cause GU57 was already so lightweight.

The news now, that you again add random names to instances. Just remember Chelsith and how bad it was there. And even worse you only add one named each to three out of 12 SF instances.

Esp. if you compare what content was added last year at around this time:

2 additional x4 raid instance (Munzoks Bastion, and Miragul's Menagerie)

2 additional x2 raid instances (WoE and Kurn's Tower)

2 additional group instances (Kurns Tower and the additional Charasith instance)

two high level solo timelines and the rework of two lower level regions. (Rhime timeline, Lavastorm (high and low level and Everfrost)

Much, much less $tation Ca$h gear

It seams creating all these nice looking house items and appearance gear only available through $C does take away from the normal development time.

It is probably a good idea not to post news any more. Most won't even notice this as a GU and think it was just another hotfix. :-/

Yeah, EQ2 is starting to feel more and more like being on the Titanic after hitting the iceberg... You love the ship, but every move they make seems to be the wrong one. What I don't understand, they know how much we loved SoF. It was really a magical release for players across the board and it brought many back to the game. Why can't they study that success and see exactly what we loved about it? Updates and expansions should be building more and more on gameplay. LDoN was another magical release for EQ1. There are reasons why certain expansions are remembered above others...

This is a bad idea. Random named suck.

I've gotten to the point were I don't bother to post anymore but after the complete GU57 FAIL I expected alot more for GU58. But here we are again:

new content: FAIL

rare spawns in instances: FAIL

7 year reward: Yawn

BG's: FAIL

Yawn, hardly what I would call a teaser for GU58. A chance to spawn? So what? 25/75, 50/50? More loot? Better or more of the same garbage that drops mostly today? Increased chance of masters? Like better chance from the random mob only or better within the entire zone? [Removed for Content] does that statement actually mean?

Maybe whats the real let down is the continued vague noncommital information.

Everyone, please note that this is the first of several articles highlighting different features of the updates. We're not cramming it all into one article.

Yes, there's a new zone that the update is named after. We've scheduled that article for next Monday.

So we can expect a zero tested/balanced zone for the GU?

It has been tested at fanfair and the dev in charge has been doing private testign w select groups. There was a whole slew of people at fanfaire who ran the zone.

This makes people come back to OPTIONAL named and try to kill it after they clear the zone, if they need to spend time on the harder encounters. So why are you reintroducing bad mechanics.

I thought you guys learned that we don't like rare spawn names in instances?

That isn't *fun* to zone in. Run the zone. If the named isn't there well, darnit. It if it is, ok cool. But chances are it still didn't drop what you wanted.

If that was supposed to make me want to log in and run those zones. It's had the opposite effect...

I stay because my friends are here, I log in to raid with them. And now we all log out after and play other things. I stay because I WANT the game to be fun and I don't want to feel like SOE doesn't care about it's vets.

Still running out of reasons to stay. And that sucks.

this instance so far is completely awesome ... maybe its not as much as we want but i'm pretty happy about an easy/hard dungeon with some pretty fun hard mode fights so far

ARCANUM was a decent game a few years ago, shame the devs stole the name but not the content which had the tinkered feel to it. Im newish to eq2 but random named on instances before killing anything is a very bad idea. Since the GoD expansion in EQ1, random named were rotten ideas. From the feedback posted here, it smells like smedley the shmuck has had a part in all of it. He ruined EQ1 the same way......
