This is both good and bad news for Station Access. The good news for all the Station Access customers who just kept it for the extra character slots can now drop the extra monthly expense. The bad news is this will affect the Station Access customer base driving more and more people away from this model. My thoughts are that SOE management is wanting to end Station Access. Why? I can not imagine. If they think they'll pull in more dollars by doing so, they're highly mistaken...

Just a wild guess, but it could be DCO release is upcoming and they may not want to include it in the the Station Access line up.

I am sooo excited for this! Now I just have to wait another 3 weeks till my SA acct is up so I can cancel that and buy back all my characters plus buy some extras on top of that. Wheee! 3 weeks seems so far away at this moment. Wish I could do it now, lol.

It looks like there are also some new skullcaps (Martial Skullcaps of various colors); I'm pretty sure those weren't there before this update. (And they are marked NEW!) They can't be viewed in the dressing room though, and there aren't any pictures of them included in the notes here. Can this be fixed? Thanks!

I just got done paying for a month of station access to be able to see the suddenly GONE, 5 characters on my acct (which was very upsetting as I had just paid for anotmal month 3 days before that, so sony converted that month to 13 days of station acces then aded the other 30 days so i lost half a month of time and had to also pay double on a month..)..

anyway..

a friend let me move 4 characters of things to his account, where we made 4 new characters to hold all my things. I had to empty market, home vault, bank, inventory, and also house items in half the chars (a couple i left, one was in a mansion just too much to empty)..

took a LOT of time, i wasn't feeling well and then ended up doing it all last minute, not much sleep for a couple days

so now that everything is off my characters, Sony is 'letting us' pay them 10$ each slot, to see our characters again.. when before, for the last 5 years or so, we could do a /camp char_name (whatever the name is) and it would let us login any of the unseen chars anyway.. so, sure did take ME by surprise when i couldn't get access, and 3 of those that I had used longest ago were very very 'main' types (like my Lysandra char).. just not fun!!

I am not sure I wanna give Sony all that money just yet, am a little upset now, and I can't easily move everything back again off my friends account

/frown

[and yes, I know it's a great thing for people that didn't know about the /camp name way for the last 5 years, and for those that can afford to pay, but it's not so great for others...]

but anyway, have a great day, be well!

There's also the Brawler's Ornamental Gi Crate (400 SC) that includes 4 gis. One (Bruiser's Dark Gi) looks a lot like the gi that all Bruisers start the game with. And another (Black Ornate Gi) looks exactly like the gi from the Tumpy's Heroes Gi Crate (1000 SC), except it's black and gold instead of black and red, which is ridiculous considering they're practically the same gi except the 1k SC crate comes with a headwrap and armwrap to match the gi (although when wearing the gi, the armwrap doesn't show). In case there's any doubt to that, I've posted comparison screens:

Looking at them side by side, the Tumpy's Heroes Gi maybe more grey than black, but still I think this should warrant a price reduction in the Tumpy's Heros set. Using the price of the Brawler's Ornamental Gi Crate's price as a basis, I wouldn't expect to pay more than 300 SC for the Tumpy's Heroes Gi Crate (assuming 100 SC per item, as is the case with the BOGC). Otherwise, these prices just seem horribly inconsistent.

As for the other things added today, I really like the new Skullcaps (they look like headbands) and I love finally being able to purchanse new character slots! I bought one today to unlock the necromancer I switched out for another character when all character slots were temporarily made available for former SA subscribers and I plan on buying many more when I get the money for it!

Edited to fix some typos.

To view each in the Marketplace preview window, there's Next and Previous buttons at the bottom of the preview window that let you cycle through each piece of the set. If you'd rather view them in your regular dressing room window, click the Description tab next to the Preview Tab. There will be icons for each piece in the crate. Just hold Ctrl and click on the one you want to view in your dressing room window. Oddly enough, neither method seems to work when trying to view the new skullcaps in the dressing room.

The method I posted works for me with everything I've tried so far except the new skullcaps. Really weird.

Edited to add that I feel for you when it comes to having issues with my marketplace window that no one else seems to have. For a very long time now (well before the UI revamp), I haven't had access to buy character transfer tokens. I know where they're supposed to be located in the marketplace window, but they just simply aren't there. Just another one of those weird things, I suppose.

I assume you had 12, then went back down to 7. Of the unseen 5 the most recently played will become available if you buy 1 slot.

It's cool that they let you buy additional slots, but they should have thought this out better. People who had Station Access now have missing characters and have to pay to get them back? What the heck? And now I am missing a slot. I have been reduced to 6 character slots from the usual 7 I was originally given. What the hell is going on? I'm hoping this is an error so I sent in a petition. If it isn't then what the "f"? People are paying for additional features and you guys just change the rules a bit, forcibly take all that stuff away, and say they have to pay extra AGAIN to get them back? F'kin shady man.

I finally get to get rid of that Station Access account... yeah, I have to spend some money to keep my existing characters, but I'm fine with that. Why? Well think about it - it's a much better deal in the long run! Assuming one is only paying for Station Access because of the extra slots (which remember, is a bonus perk, not the real purpose of Station Access). If you stop paying for Station Access, you lose those bonus slots - BUT paying $50 once is a lot better than paying $30 every month, instead of the $15 of a regular subscription. That's $15 saved a month, meaning you could buy your characters back in a little over three months with the money saved (or just pay the total up front knowing that you'll be saving that money over the next few months). And every month after those intital few months, you're still saving money. Downgrading and buying the slots through this new system will save people money - even if they only play for four months after downgrading their account. (And if they play for a year more, or even two? Think about how much money that actually saves.)

I'm really bothered by this. I feel like it's a great betrayal to loyal consumers, who pay monthly to support the game.

EverQuest 2 is one of the few games that heavily limits your slots, thereby limiting your ability to make characters and experience every facet of gameplay.

There are other games the same age and the same price point that offer many more options for character creation... for free. Some go as high as 10 slots PER server!

After what feels like a con artist move disguised as a good thing; I can't say I support Sony Online Entertainment anymore. I refused to play FF XI like my friends were over this exact same thing. Paying for extra slots, after you've already been limited.

I'll continue to play the game, as I have since WoW came out... but that's all. No more fan faires, limited editions, my alt account..., RAF programs with buddies or buying stuff off the marketplace for me. I have to keep some standards.

curious - why the price difference between eq1 and eq2. A slot is 800SC there or 3 for 2000SC, but here it is 1000SC per slot.

http://eqplayers.station.sony.com/n...cle.vm?id=52038

Never mind figured it out, they are only allowed a total of 3 slots

FYI. If you use the character slot item, you can immediatly /camp <servername>.
to the hidden character that you want. That will make your choice, your perma character.
