View Full Version : Eq2x not effecting Eq2??

That's what I thought I'd heard from SOE, but as it turns out, I go to log in today and loe and behold, the servers are down. Why are they down, an update exclusively for eq2x... nice one SOE, way to lie right to your customers faces, again.

They are adding purchasable character slots to the marketplace for all servers, according to the game update notes.

http://forums.station.sony.com/eq2/...topic_id=487937

They also changed the raid in labs, so the fighters dont get charmed anymore

Eh.. Dunno that one effect on one mob in one raidzone and a trinket on the marketplace is proper reasoning for taking all the servers down. By all rights they should be able to update the marketplace entirely from their end(they probably just felt the need to take servers down just to turn our heads to something new on their marketplace..)

Besides, I think the purchaseable character slot thing might be eq2x only(didn't see anything stateing otherwise)

As for the raid mob, couldnt they have just taken the zone down??

Well the raid zone doesn't go "up" until you zone in, so its a programming thing on their end. The character slot is an account thing, so the account servers have to come down. Yes they are doing some stuff to xtenze, but about half this update affects live, last weeks not so much. The character slots have been asked for my probably 7 outa 10 people.

the servers are set to always go down together and it's not a big deal at all. they do maintenance for them at the same time. why does it matter? they've done weekly maintenance for EQ2 for quite a while now & that started before EQ2x.

you are wrong, additional character slots are on the EQ2 servers and was posted officially about a week ago.

No, the purchaseable character slots are Live. They specifically told us how it would work with a Station Account that was downgraded to a regular account (drop to 7 slots, buy back the ones you want to reactivate, those toons will be there). Barring bugs (crosses fingers) it should work.

There is commonly a "Hotfix" patch on Tues or Wed of every week with some small changes noted in release notes and some, on the back end, that aren't (sometimes it's fixes to exploits that they generally don't call out in release notes). Sometimes it's also some quick basic maintenance. This has been happening for years, not just since EQ2x was launched. You can go into the Game Updates forum and look at all the Tues and Wed notes there (and how many are just one-liners).

If they continue to have Tues or Wed patch day and the information isn't several lines of information, it doesn't mean that the patch was for EQ2x, it means that it is business as usual.

Eh tbh mostly dissapointed in a crappy patch day, eq2x crap, and I got 2 acnts so extra char slots don't phase me any, and the update I'm really waiting for as are a lot of others I'm sure, is the one that effects BG tokens. On that note, anyone know when that update is coming?

If i remember correctly than change in BG tokens and other various tokens will be coming with next GU.

Isn't there usually downtime every tuesday morning? This does not seem new to me.

It isn't new. Everyone should expect downtime every Tuesday or Wednesday. If the servers don't come down on either of those days, consider it a gift from SOE. As far as the patch notes go, who cares if they're combined with EQ2X? I'm not a fan of extended, but let's not be nitpicky about something as simple as having to scroll through a couple patch notes that we don't care about.

Learn to pick your battles.

If you go by the supposed 3-month schedule it should be coming out in early November. I just hope it actually has some content, unlike the last update.

Wow.

1. It's not an EQ2X specific patch. Both services are getting character slots added to the Marketplace. Also like mentioned above, some raid thing is being fixed as well.

2. GU58 is slated to happen next Tuesday (10/12).

Why can't some people bother to be informed before blanket spewing hate and misinformation all over the place?

Have you seriously not noticed there was absolutely 0 content for live servers this last update?... Really?? Have you noticed that there are spells and features in this game that are broken and have been broken since the expansion released? PVP servers anyone?

Glad you're happy with the unwanted/ unrequested, UI update and spell revamp.... Maybe there's another newby zone they can revamp for you too. The PVP dev has already stated that numerous changes, while being legitimate complaints, will have to wait until the developers have more time to work them out... It's October. Your reaction to eq2x is exactly the same as PvE crowd's at the time, even though eq2x effect on Live is significantly, and by many orders of magnitude, smaller than that of PvP servers on eq2 of those days. Thats Irony of Nagafen player complaining about eq2x :p

Well how about the fact that I put months and years even, into leveling my characters and getting them geared, someone on eq2x can get all that crap in a minute just by paying RL cash, gotta love the pay to cheat servers, Wonder if they will eventually offer up invincibility and /noclip mode for SC?

But in SOE's deffense about the last LU. Imho I think the spell revamp thing was neat, SOE never adds any fluff stuff into the game, fun spells were abandoned in the first expac, and now they're actually talking about re-doing the fun spells. Tbh it's an improvement and I like the direction they're going with that, it's a big turn from the usual(just stuff the game with new zones/higher lvls/more quests) and leave it at that. And flying mounts in the next expac at that! The fun content is what is brutally lacking in this game, if SOE works on that, I will keep my sub NP.
