I love this change. It has freed up a lot of space in my inventory/bank bags/boxes. Please continue doing more stuff like this.

Any chance we can get another tab for "portal items"? Portal items meaning tinker wormhole items, a glowing azure shard, quel'ule teleport stone, these type things.

Thanks again for this and any future considerations.

One final tab for "keys" and we'd be all set

Chardok alone has, what, 4 or 5 keys.

Absolutely love the mount tab....very clean...easy to use and will be great for freeing up space. It should openup a market for appearance mounts as well. Have not really tried out the currency tab as I am new to test and dont really have any different types yet but it if works with the same ease would be great I am sure.

One more comment....I love the new yards in the houses and the latest one in Freeport is really nice. Really lookingforward for what Qeynos will look like.

If I had a vote for a tab being that I am really into crafting it would have to be a fuels tab....now that to me would be a god send....

I've no objection to there being a fuels tab but I wanted to point out in case you didn't know that you can now sell you fuels back to the fuel merchant for the same amount you buy them for so there's no need to really keep them on you unless you're making house calls for crafting or something <shrug>. I suppose if you did all your crafting in your house or something there might be a reason to keep fuels on you as well <shrug>.

Instead of buying them everytime I get an order, I usually just buy a stack and keep that stack on me until I run out or get another order. So instead of having a stack for each tier for my actual profession, I usually have additional fuels from a certain tier for dailies and/or the special recipes that anyone can make but use different fuel - such as the Erollisi Day and Nights of the Dead recipes.

Well for key-type items at least, I'd REALLY like to have a keyring like the currency tab where they are actually stored rather than in inventory. I have so many keys and stones, etc. that are used to get into various places (3 for Chardok gates alone! not to mention the 3 books for the palace...), but I dare not leave them in the bank or its guaranteed I'll go somewhere and find the access item I need is missing (and yes, I do often do older zones with friends or boxing).

Or an even better solution... just flag us for access without needing an actual item. But we'd need access to a list of where we are keyed for, otherwise it would be impossible to tell why we couldn't zone in somewhere we thought we'd already gotten the key for.

When a key is used, it goes into a virtual keyring and poofs from your cursor. You type /keys to see all the key names/zone keys you have.

I am thrilled with these changes. Thank you so much for your hard work. Something I would love to see in the future (if its possible) is a "container" for house items and also another container (Armoire?) for wearable items.
Rothgar wrote:

So let me get this straight, now we need a special bag for:

(snip)

Quest Items

Actually you already have a solution for this, and have had since launch: STOP GIVING THEM OUT! For anything that's not an activated item to progress something, one of the best features EQ2 has is a quest journal that gives "hidden updates" for things you collected on quests. Think a lot of the "kill 10 of these things for hides/fangs/feathers/whatever" quests in Kunark. I'll even link one: Handed Down. This is the "starter" quest for Rillis faction in Fens. You kill the things, you "get" their pelts, fangs, etc, and you go back, and the questgiver "takes" the items from you. But you NEVER have them taking up inventory space.

This is how it should ALWAYS be. Any quest that is not like this for pure fluff should be reported as BUGGED. One "wrong" quest would be "An Ugly Bounty" (last of the "Thuuga" quests) where it even states in EQ2i that if you don't have inventory room, the coins aren't looted. Either way, they take up space in your inventory for no reason anyways! This is just one of many quests (other part of that questline have the same problem, though that's hardly the only place this happens) where items take up space in bags for no reason.

There's a few exceptions here and there where you need to activate something from inventory (though at least a few of those could be world-clickies if you're on the right step, like last part of Godking quest), or even craft with a quest item to progress the quest, but 99% of the time, it's just dumb items taking up inventory space.

Please pay attention in Velious to not give us quest items in the first place unless there's literally no other way to do it.

Too many tabs would start to make everything look too clunky. I agree with a few of the other posters, put the keys onto a keyring that is not a part of your inventory - but that can be seen in a seperate window. Get rid of quest items totally, and just have them update as most quests do.

Before you get carried away, I'd like to say that I like my bags just how they are.

By all means add all this self-sorting, tabbed nonsense for those that want it, but please leave just plain bags that we can sort for ourselves as the basic option.

Sorting my bags is my primary gameplay in every MMO. Take that away and I really have no reason to play at all.

For a lot of the items, it would be good if you just "learned" it and it became a spell or whatever something you don't have to carry around and/or store. Keys, portal items, fluff pets, those type things would work well with that.

This has already been done with some items from SF and I would love to see it expanded.

Keys - Really there are not very many of them right now but a key ring makes more sense.

Quest Items - I don't see how this could work easily. There are just so many old quests the devs don't have time to go through and flag them all. If it could be done with a script maybe but there will be mistakes. I would prefer to just have the devs stop using actual items in quests and make it so you just get an update and nothing appears in your inventory. Just make a design decision and say from this point going forward no more actual items that are just space fillers.

Illusion items - Same with portals why are these items at all make them spell scrolls.

Totems & Charms - Actually I like this. But I would want poisons and potions. I have an entire 40 slot bag FULL of nothing but poisons and potions on my main. Not sure how this would work with auto-consume (but I am sure you can get it working). This is one I would absolutely love. Maybe a potion belt which stores the items....

Harvestables - There are a LOT of these out there. It would be a great feature except suddenly your a walking harvest depot box. You have to make limits and while I want this I think its over kill. Same with fuel. I want it but really its not needed.

Thats my 2 cents at least but all I really want is a tab with storage for consumables. Like totems, potions, and poisons.

Geez I was not trying to start anything lol

A keyring would be great, and making the portal items into a hotkey would work as well, where you "scribe" the item as it were and it shows up on the menu choice.

I was simply saying that with ALL the quest items and al the assorted bits of nonsense it fills your bags up quickly. It would be nice to have things sorted a bit better.

It would be wonderful to either have a totem bag that works like the quiver where it can only hold totems and whatnot....or even an inventory tag to hold the quest items given. It can be a terrible mess trying to find a certain item needed for a quest in ones bags at times where its charm optional and you need to clicky it on something. It would be nice to have 1 key that you could push and not ahve to spend forever digging thru the bags to find it and then place on the hotbar. I have so many hotkeys filled up already its crazy and this just adds to it.

Make them into spells or whatever....I would love a way to get them OUT of my bags and bank and yet be useable still.

I second the idea for a consumable tab btw.....that is a great idea!

World of Warcraft have had a keyring as part of the UI for a while now. All your keys just drop in there like an extra bag, and its a tiny button on the UI, so I guess its doable here.

It also now has quest items useable and findable quickly by going up to the NPC or location you need the quest item, and clicking a small icon next to the quest name (which also shows in the quest on screen list).

It also has a pet tab, with all your pets listed and callable, including a mount tab.

I believe LOTRO has a seperate Quest bag now, where all the quest items go.

Its also has a currency tab where all the currency like City Tokens would go. Wow may also have this.

So, its all presumably doable - and been done in other games first. Although it would nice to come up with something new and innovative in EQ2 that they want to copy instead Lets get thinking!

I'd be ecstatic if there were just an auto-sorter button like in a few other MMO's. My other characters are having some storage issues, but partly because I only know about 50% of what's in there! Leveling a transmuter is helping, but I've heard SO MANY people agree some sort of bag sorting button would be fantastic.

And I've been asking for a long time now, a window to list all your "fluff" pets. There are TONS in the game and to keep all the items in your inventory takes up a lot of space. It would be so nice to have all of the clickie and fluff pet spells all consolidated in one pet UI window.

I'm very excited about the wallet, too.

That way we don't NEED to know WHERE it is to find it and use it.

It sure beats trying to make bags that only carry one type of item, which would really cut down on bag space since it would therefore NOT carry anything else.
