LoL, nice!

I'm amused tho, I've been using an appearance mount, of sorts, on my Swash for months. If the toon ran faster than the mount equipped, the toon's speed would be used rather than the mount's.

I'm going to be so amused using the LoN rhino my Swash has in appearance when she gets the flying mounts with Velious.
While you are paying attention to mounts, any chance you can make mounts pitch with the terrain? Looks terrible to have your mounts head in the ground as you are running up a steep incline.

Here's the mount window, using the Default UI:

One important thing to note, any mount you purchase automatically goes into the Mount Window and not your primary inventory slot. You can directly convert your mounts to house items via the mount window and they will go into your inventory when you do. Turning them back into rideable mounts puts them back in your mount window. You can manually drag them out of your mount window and into inventory, if you wish.

Changing out your equipped and appearance mounts doesn't actually affect the mount until you recast. Just a heads up on that.

I /bugged an issue with the new "Mount Macro" that one can use from the in-game interface. It doesn't summon a mount, even with a mount placed in both equipped and appearance.

I love the mount tab, the storage space and having a separate appearance option! So please don't take the following list the wrong way, its feedback, issues and ideas for your consideration.

1) If you're already on a mount, dragging a different mount onto the equipped slot does not swap it immediately. Would be nice if it could do this, i.e. dismount and trigger the cast to mount the new one. Otherwise when you want to swap equipped mounts (e.g. swap max speed for harvesting bonus) it's a 3 step process. Or can we write macros for it?

2) Similarly if you're already on a mount, dragging a different mount onto the appearance slot does not immediately swap the graphic. Again would be nice if it could do this, and since it's only for appearance, could you make the graphics swap instantaneous, no casting time required?

3) A small wording issue for clarity... the slots are called equipped and appearance. The summon ability refers to the equipped mount. The tooltip on the appearance slot avoids using the word "equip". All good so far!

Then... the right click option on both slots says "unequip". To unequip the equipped mount makes sense. To unequip the appearance mount which we're not describing as being equipped, doesn't. If the option on the appearance slot said something like "remove appearance" it would be more consistent and clearer. (Hmm, did you manage to follow that?)

4) You can drag 'n' drop mounts into the 2 boxes, but you can't remove them in the same way. You can't pick them back up again out of those boxes. You have to right-click, select option, to remove them. It would be quicker if we could drag 'n' drop the mounts back into the general area above to remove them. This is actually what I find myself trying to do instinctively, and it's a little frustrating that it doesn't work.

Bizarrely, if you pick up the currently equipped mount from the list above and drop it back into the same list area, it does unequip it - this makes me think the code is there to remove them by drag 'n' drop but the picking up part is missing?

5) Many mounts have the same icons, so you can't tell at a glance which of your mounts you have in the slots. The buff icons for them can be the same too. When you combine the fact that dropping them into the boxes does not make an immediate change, with the fact that the equipped mount is hidden by an appearance one, it's not immediately obvious what you've got in there. So you have to resort to hovering the mouse over the icons to get the tooltips to read. Ok so the information is there, but it's not immediately accessible. Would it be possible to report the name of the mount in use next to the each box though, so you could see it at a glance?

6) You can drop the same mount into both equipped and appearance slots. The effect is the same as only putting the mount in the equipped slot and leaving the appearance slot empty. Not the end of the world, but I'm wondering about clarity again. Having two ways to set up the same thing isn't ideal. (Plus factor in the point above about not being able to tell at a glance what the mounts in the boxes actually are.) Could you code it to empty the appearance box if this situation is created by the player as they are dragging 'n' dropping different mounts around?

7) If you get a new mount (e.g. from claim or marketplace) which is attunable, it goes into the list in the character window, but isn't attuned. This is all good, you might have got it on the wrong character by mistake. However if you want to use the mount and drop it into the equipped box, the summon mount ability then complains that it's not attuned.

At this point it's not entirely intuitive that you have to drag the mount from the list back to the inventory, equip it into a charm slot, unequip it back to the inventory, drag it back into the character window. It would be better if dropping it onto the equipped box brought up the "Do you want to attune this?" dialogue box!

8.) Related to 7), an unattuned mount can be dropped into the appearance slot without ever attuning it - and it does replace your equipped mount's appearance. Mini exploit there perhaps or intended?

9) Is there any point having mounts optionally equipable in charm slots any more? I'm thinking that with this lovely new mount tab perhaps you've not gone far enough, and separating mounts from charms is the next step.

- Any stat bonuses on mounts aren't being applied from having them equipped in charm slots, only when mount is summoned.

- We don't need the charm slots to store the mounts.

- When you mouse over a mount it compares it to your equipped charms - but you're really not comparing like with like. So that's just confusing, not helpful at all.

- Of course if you can't equip them in charm slots, you'd need to have another mechanism for attuning them - that goes back to point 7).

10) Related to 9), if you mouse over a mount (e.g. in inventory, quest description, marketplace, claim, etc.) what we reeeeally want now is for it to compare that new (or potential) mount to whatever's in your equipped mount slot.

Now please don't kill me for writing all that!

- Soresha

Edit: when will I learn not to write "8 )" in my feedback lists lol

I can agree with everything above, except:

Soresha wrote:

Any stat bonuses on mounts aren't being applied from having them equipped in charm slots, only when mount is summoned. And we don't need the charm slots to store the mounts.

This has always been the case. You need to summon the mount to gain the stats it grants. Equipping a mount in your charm slot has never granted stats, unless for some reason the item used to summon the mount grants stats (of which there are maybe one or two items like that?)

You'll notice that even consumables like potions are "Charm (optional)". It's necessary that they be Charm (optional) in order to use them from your inventory.

You can still summon a mount the old fashioned way if you wish. All the "Summon Mount" ability does is provide an alternate way of doing so. Instead of having to hotkey the specific mount and using it from inventory, you just hotkey the ability instead.

I would have been excited about this a few months ago but then they went and made it so you could turn all mounts off from your view. A lot of people I know have already turned mounts completely off via the options, including myself - an appearance mount means very little to me at this stage unless they pair it with a /showmount or /hidemount feature like they do with the helm and cloak. If they ever implement that, I'll turn my mount viewing back on again. Until then, Norrath is a mountless world for me - I'm glad you paid 2500 SC for that pretty cat or that premium steed - or that flying (insert next expansion mount here) - but I don't have mounts turned on so I can't see it - sorry. **shrug**

I would love to see people riding on their mounts if they want to show them off, I just prefer to not show or see mine - so my only option is to never see any mount, ever.

To the poster mentioning the appearance not effecting if you have a mount up, I believe this is intended if I read the notes correctly. The Summon Mount is what creates the objects. At that time it creates the mount with appropriate stats from the equip slot and the appearance of the mount in the appearance slot. Since these are summoned items they wont change dynamically is my guess.

At the risk of sounding the fanboi . . ."Rothgar, this is an absolutely brilliant solution. Kudos! It is far too long in between threads of a completely positive nature and you deserve accolades and grats for this one."

Aside from the items already mentioned . . .the function itself works really well.

I tested charged items such as the mounts from Enchanted Grottos and Tinkered items. When equipped they consume a charge, when placed in appearance you get the appearance and a charge is not consumed. Just thought I would mention it in case anyone else was wondering.

Nice achievement set for this one btw.
Found another oddity. Some mounts like "Gray Mustang Pack Horse" are sellable (i.e. not flagged with "NO-VALUE"). In the past I had these in a bag set as "contents not for sale" to keep them out of the way in vendor windows.

Now when I place this mount in the new mounts tab, it's showing up in the vendor's Sell page listing. I can mark the individual item "not for sale", but it's still taking up a space in the list.

It would be nice if vendor windows ignored the contents of the mounts tab, so they didn't show up at all. No risk of accidentally vendoring a mount. If you really wanted to cash in a mount you could drag it to inventory first, but with unlimited mount storage I doubt many people would actually want to sell them?

I'd like to see my fae "flying" along at high speed flapping her wings, and still be able to see the mounts my friends choose for their appearance. I'd also like other people to see my fae flying along, not for them to see me on a mount.

I guess it's a roleplay thing and part of how we choose to present our characters. Choosing "no mount" is just as valid as choosing a horse, cloud, cat, carpet, etc. for your appearance mount, isn't it?

And thank you for all your work on this!
