Noob teleport question

<p>I was slightly bummed to realize I needed friends to use teleportation but then I got my pet and got an idea.  I made him stay, ran just a little bit away and then teleported back to him.  It was pretty funny getting a loading screen to move 50 yards but it did work.</p><p>I guess my question is if this is a viable use?  If there is a situation where I don't need his help can I make him stay at a quest giver go gather whatever and then teleport back to turn in?  Does the pet fade after I get too far away for too long?</p><p>Thanks in advance.</p>

<p>That works with the racial ports for those that get them (elvish types I believe) and is only good for once every 9-10 hours or so and obviously only in the same zone.  Yes, you could do that but I'm not sure it's really worth it except in very specialized situations, though none come to mind...  COV only works on group members and I have no idea with tinkered items... maybe?</p>
