Pardon my neophyteness. I was out of the game for a few years, so I'm out of touch with the details of the bruiser/monk distinctions these days. My Bruiser has been sitting at 80 for a long time and I've just now reconfigured him for adventuring, but it's going slow. He's 81.5 and his DPS is ridiculously poor compared to my Lock and Necro. Now I know that I'm comparing the below classes unfairly: Bruiser: 81 with full T7 masters only. 136 AA's.Lock: 90 with a mix of Masters/Experts. 188 AA's.Necro: 90 with a mix of Masters/Experts. 190 AA's. In my examination, I'm taking into account where they were these classes were when they began the 80-90 run through Sentinel's Fate. Realistically, the only serious difference was the bruiser was only T7 mastered with no T8 spells. Whereas the Necro and Lock had a mix T8 masters and experts. Based on my experience, the bruiser has very poor DPS. I know I'm not giving you the AA config of the bruiser. Please trust that I have maximized it with what I have, and I experiment frequently. The bruiser used to be my main, so I understand the casting style differences between mages and brawlers. This brawler is not intended to be a main. His purpose is to retain the namesake and collect shinies. Now that I've got the background out of the way, let me ask my questions...1/ I put 10 AAs in the Brawler line Parry option to put Parry at 24. However, when I look at the mit breakdown, it only shows 14%. I'm guessing that my level is somehow affecting that 24 and that's why it doesnt show as a %. Or maybe this is broken? Hard to imagine this late into an expansion that something like that could still be broken, but I remember EXACTLY why I retired this class as my main. No dev love for years, and fixes were nonExistent. 2/ I've always preferred to play Monk over Bruiser. But many years ago, I switched from Monk to Bruiser because Bruiser's single target dmg was so much higher, even with the Monk's native 100% haste. I'd like to switch back to Monk when I hit 90 because I'll get two Feigns for shiny collecting. However, I can't remember if Monks get all the stuns that Bruisers do, which I very much like. I honestly don't know if these two are on par for single target fighting anymore or what. Do you guys have any recommendations? Switching back just for two FD's instead of one and because I "like" monks more, doesnt seem like enough justication. Especially when I'll have to remaster FD. I haven't purchased any T9 experts yet, so it's a good time to make up my mind. Thanks!

Sure my bruiser can do burst damage but bruiser combat arts refresh slower and auto attack is slower as well. Monk ca's like five rings, waking dragon, and silient palm will execute (cast) faster and refresh is far quick than the bruiser's one hundred hands, pummel, and uppercut. So again my monk fighting everyday norrath quest mobs will always have some combat art up and ready to use. Not to mention monk auto attack with all the double attack gear and haste is far better than a solo bruiser.

Now on harder fights my bruiser with chi, knockout combo, and impenatrable will can by far out dps my monk for a 30 seconds. That really is the only advantage I see my bruiser having over my monk in a dps solo situation. In a group with good buffs I would then say my bruiser will be slightly higher than my monk.

However my monks combination of dps with monk defensives are better than my brusier for consistant pulling.

If all you're planning on using the brawler for is shiney hunting, then I would recommend sticking with the bruiser just for close mind and faster self-heal. 30s immunity to all control effects besides snare goes a long way towards success in some regions. To address your other question, you raised your parry skill by 24. The skill is a contested check meaning the mob swings and hits, it's weapon skill is then contested against your parry skill to see if you parried. The 14% you're seeing is the chance you have of parrying a blow against a mob that has your level*5 weaponskill.
