Just curious what folks are running, and what they feel about it.

I'm currently in a crazy spec just testing things out where I'm running all 4 guard endlines.

Hopefully beetny will get updated shortly for sharing specs...

I pretty much stayed close to what I had before.....Switch some points around to get Enhance Plant and the 15% block to D stance.

I really have no use for Shoulder The Burdon....let alone the points ide have to throw away in stuff I really dont need to get it. Pretty much same for Got Your Back.....just no use for it for me. I think I get to take my Guard to a raid maybe 3 times a month and usually just to leach some seals......besides if fighters in a raid cant handle the AEs then that raid has bigger issues to deal with.

For my Guard losing 9% DA for 3% Flurry was a 'DPS' nerf because my DA is low.

So far the only 2 things I have found useful in these changes is the changes to Guardian Sphere and Last Man standing. Rest is hasnt made a difference one way or another.

All in all the gap between Guards and the other plate tanks is still pretty much as its always been.

IMO should have been closer to 10-15% flurry.

Simple math shows us 100% AE auto-attack would add slightly more total DPS when fighting four mobs than what 35% Flurry while dual-wielding would add vs a single target, and given that berserkers are tougher than guardians with the current status quo, I don't see why guardians shouldn't have a DPS edge vs single mobs equivalent to the edge berserkers have vs multiple mobs.

At any rate, while I would prefer that all fighters were balanced appropriately, so guardians would still have a place in EQ2 raiding, that plainly isn't going to happen with someone as out of touch with the game as Xelgad running the show.

Hence, I have decided to finally give up the class I have been playing non-stop since EQ2 was released and will be betraying to a berserker as soon as GU58 goes live and I get all the essential berserker masters gathered.

After all, at the end of the day, it is better to play an overpowered class than a woefully redundant one.

I hate the leveling process even considering how easy it is today. Besides I would have made a really bad SK considering what my views on what a tank should be are.

Betraying is much easier and getting masters is stupid easy today so its not that big a deal.

Very tempting to say the least.

Only thing holding me back is the realization that I would be one of those FOTM players

But SOE has made things pretty clear in terms of how obsolete and pointless Guardian class is to them.

I've been testing Shoulder the burden in yesterday raid, but as expected it's of little use, since my aggro is an issue only against other tanks in the raid. But I will keep the 5 AAs to enhance shout and provoke.

I'm gonna respec with as many offensive AAs as possible, like it used to be.

Only question is, should I spend or not 8 AAs to get the extra 250 HP for the raid ? And I guess the answer is gonna be no.

I concur it is wasted AA.

8aa is expensive for 250 HP, but looking at it all, I'll probably still take it as there aren't that many places to pick up meaningful dps.

i think on hold the line i seen an increase of 200tps.. with the changes thats about it. so when i'm with a sword and board i'm generating 70% less TPS than duel wielding.

It is a [Removed for Content] deal, but it is 250 extra HP for the entire raid, and we have a few squishy mages on our raids who might occasionally go Purple Club instead of dying due to those few extra HP.

The only other changes to my spec are that I've dropped the 3 points in Enhance: Rescue and 5 in Enhance: Sentry Watch in order to fund the above.

The bottom line is, of course, that we remain very significantly weaker than berserkers and paladins defensively, and about on par with shadowknights, despite the fact that all three utterly destroy us in terms of both DPS/TPS as well as utility.

Soon enough, I'll be able to post berserker parses that will be directly comparable to my current guardian parses, given that the player, the gear, the buffs, the group, and the rest of the raid force will be entirely unchanged. That should shut all the other fighters the hell up.

Well I finally logged into my guardian tonight. Decided to give it a try and check out the changes. I haven't played my guard in a few months... since spring I think. I didn't realize it happing over the last few months, but tonight while I was playing it hit me... I have completely no interest in ever logging on and playing my guardian ever again. After going from a zerker to logging on to this... there's just no way. Even my 39 shadowknight BG toon is pretty much infinitely more enjoyable to play.

Normally, I wouldn't post something like this since I'm sure noone really cares anyway, but it actually feels like some sort of closure. It feels like I can officially bench this character, and this whole 2 year fighter balance fiasco no longer effects me. Good luck to you guys that actually still play the class, and are satisfied with the class' performance. As for me, my only regret is that I didn't reroll sooner, and wasted the last expansion and a half playing what I consider to be an inferior tank class.

I don't raid with my Guardian, I'm a heroic Guardian.

I went down the new aggression line and for groups I like the new shoulder the burden as of right now. I haven't had any problems with Aggro issues, though I have only grouped with a dirge that had more hp than me (running about 22000 HP)

I put STB on him and pulled multiple mobs with a fury, defiler, wizard and warlock in the group and lost aggro once or twice, mostly because the warlock AE just as the mobs was getting to me. Plant has worked great for me, but then again only in a group setting.

So I have about 20 points in the agression line, 5 points to get the 15% block, 10 points to increase weapon skills and raidwide hp/defense increase.

As for raid I can see how this can be not that useful. I think they should make shoulder the burden raidwide, so we could put it on anyone in the raid who is having aggro issues (such as another tank). Of course this would be nice with moderate too. As I don't raid with my guardian hopefully then will listen to people who do and make some changes where a guardian is one of the top raid tank choices.
