You need to change your poisons, definitely. You're still in a Ranger frame of mind, where snares and DoT was your friend.

For Assassins, you need to do damage quickly and/or debuff the enemy or stun them.

My 2cp:

Reds = vitality breach (lifetap) or caustics (DD). Personally, I much prefer vitality breach.

Purple = gracelessness is what I generally use (deflection/defense debuff)

Blue = stupefying (stun)

That'll help you out significantly.

For heroics or other tough mobs, use your CAs to your best advantage. You have a snare, a DD+root (in which case you can back off, and ranged attack for a bit and hopefully proc some lifetaps. This is a good time to Frontload if you have it), and Concealment which allows you to chain your big hits. And don't forget your short-duration combat buffs - they'll help out.

After 80, life changes as equipment will boost your crits through the roof and you'll get some more toys to play with, not to mention the Sentinel's Fate AAs that open up.

*edit* - some AAs into your defensive stance in Assassin and TSO trees will also help you solo.
