Greetings all,

I created this thread to aid me in choosing a class to play. Now, I have a tendency to find a class that I like and then run with it, right up to max level and the available Raid content. As I am new to EQ2 and on the Trial, I wanted to avoid getting too involved with a character only to find out that the class I chose isn't desired in a raid/group situation. Therefore, I have a question.

In your Raiding and Grouping (primarily raiding) experience, what are the top 3 classes that you are always looking for, or hear about people wanting but rarely being able to obtain for a Raid?

The second part of the question is: Why is this so? Is it because they are hard to level? Hard to play? Hard to solo? Are they useless OUTSIDE of a group/raid situation? Is it because their ability to <insertability> is extremely useful?

If any of you could answer this, I would be very interested and appreciative. Thankyou.

Note: I also posted this in the trial forum, but thought I'd more than likely get more responses if I were to post here also. Please also note that if, in your opinion, some of the most desired classes are not Priests, go ahead and list them anyway. I'm just used to the Healing types being the most wanted.

In no particular order the hardest 3 to find for raiding are bards, chanters, and healers. The reason they're hard to find, IMO, is because people either think they're boring to play or they really are boring to play.

In my experiences, raids want 4 bards (Any more is needless because 3 dirges and 1 Trouby, which is the norm, already has buffs overlapping), 4 chanters (the split isn't as clear here, depends on the raid and individuals here), and 6-10 healers. Healers are usually 2-4 shamans, 2-4 clerics, and anything left over is filled in with druids. Honestly anything more than 4 of a class is or even an archetype is pointless, one of each in a group is enough. Druids aren't hard to fill in because you need less of them. Shamans and clerics are more desired because of the types of heals, wards and reactives respectively, which are counted before the druids regenerating. If you're looking to play a class wanted in a raid then go for shaman, cleric, troubador, or chanter. These are, in my experience, the hardest to find but the most looked for. The only debate may be the troubador but of the two bards they're harder to find and less played because they help mages and some healers almost exclusively.
