I don't understand this.

My dirge is using the same hotbar layout my mystic is, and I don't have this problem on her. I can't quite understand it.

I tried to look in the keybindings section to see what's where and whatnot, but this is what I came up with... First, the problem.

I have five hotbars on this character. The top two are reserved for songs, escape, recall spells. Middle one had some random clickies on it, bottom two have attacks, etc set on them. first bar is what I use reguarly, second is stuff used not so much.

On my screen, from bottom to top, they are numbered 1, 2, 4, 3, 5. I had swapped 4 and 3 in order to attempt to solve this problem before.

According to my keybindings(default eq2 keybindings here) my bars are listed as 1, unknown number, 2, unknown number, 3. so 3 has the keybindings for bar 2(alt mod) and 5 has the bindings for 3(control mod). 2 and 3 have no keybindings.

3 currently has bria's, selo's, etc on it... but today, when I levelled to 27, when selos and brias upgraded, instead of going on the bar they belong on(whole weaker version is being replaced by.. thing) they're showing up on bar 4, which is below it... and the icons are OVERWRITING OTHER THINGS. This is the activity that bothers me. The new abilities, which I believe aren't updating the original spells on my bars because they are aa enhanced, popping into new slots does not bother me. The fact that they're popping onto the bar RIGHT BELOW IT, overwriting another item/ability, does. Like I have currently Selo's accelerando on the third bar spot. When it upgraded, it popped on the third spot on the bar below it, which had Evade on it... not that I use evade much at this level, but it's there.

Is there any reason for this behavior or did I confuse everyone?

Any way to make it stop? ><

New spells overwriting the wrong things is a known bug atm, it acts rather weird so SOE hasn't been able to track it down and fix it yet unfortunately.

In a particular other game it works just well and dandy, but there, you don't upgrade your spells. You buy a new rank at the trainer and thats what. You don't have player crafted or dropped upgraded versions of it. Thus, the button is ALWAYS replaced.

Poster above you explained it for me though. Funny thing is, I just levelled again and since I had a grandmaster of the spell it wanted to upgrade, it wasn't an upgrade and it put it on the first open spot of the main hotbar(bar 1) instead of "upgrading" the spell by sticking it on the bar below. Only seems to do it if the button should be replaced, not if it should NOT be. And that's the only hotbar doing it.

I'd think it should not be putting it in an empty spot either (that kind of defeats the purpose...), but at least it wasn't overwriting anything in that case.
