Ok, so some time ago I did some work into mitigation mechanics (HERE), with the upcoming change to how +mit works I figured it would be worth taking a look at what changes, on the basic level.

The important part of the post is this bit:

steelbadger wrote:

Curve-Fit Equation Approximations

To work out how much mit your persona window should show you can use this equation: Where: G is mit purely on your gear (when naked ie completely unmodified). M is your total +mit% amount. Entered as a whole number, so if you hve 1.4% on an item you enter 1.4 here. B is your Defensive Stance worn armour effectiveness bonus (15% for most tanks). So for them it would be 0.15. My Guard has a multiplier of 0.2. N is the number of items of armour you are wearing, yes, the def stance bonus becomes smaller if you're not wearing all your armour. Z is a logic point. Make it 1 if you're in Defensive stance, make it 0 if you're not. P is mitigation from any and all spells/buffs and Personal Advancement choices (you can choose Physical Mitigation instead of Elemental, Noxious or Arcane) Yes, benefit from these is also dictated by number of bits of armour worn.

I did my testing with a Guardian under the the apparently falacious assumption that we weren't dealing with some 'Relative Theory of Mitigation Mechanics' where the results change depending on your point of view. As such I produced the 0.03113 value as the factor increasing the effectiveness of +mit effects. This squares with Xelgad's statement that plate tanks were gaining 'about' 30% benefit for 10% +mit%.

I didn't do any testing for brawlers as it can take quite a while to do, I don't have a brawler and I saw no reason to bother; no-one pointed out that my equations didn't apply to brawlers.

My first gut instinct when I read Xelgad's post was that the 0.03113 multiplier was going to become 0.01. Or to put it another way, it'll work directly as the percentage bonus quoted.

After playing on test for a short while I can confirm this for Guardians at least (I'm not falling into that trap again).

So the new calculation for calculating your total mit is:

Where everything else is the same. (You can also consider the 0.01*M+1 term to simply be 1+M where this M is a percentage expressed as a decimal)

My defensive stance is still working as before, it's worth remembering that your defensive stance does NOT alter the effectiveness of mit buffs (including personal advancement choice mit buffs). So it will always appear to give give less benefit than it apparently should, if you just look at mit with it on and mit with it off.

I'd be interested to see the mit bug in action though, if any monks or bruisers could provide me with the following (please remember to ensure that all your gear is lvl 90, I can account for lower level gear in my calcs but it's an unneccesary complecation):

The mit of each piece of armour you're wearing for the test (Examine the armour while naked of everything, including jewellery. Any +mit% gear you are wearing will alter the number you see in the examine window).

The amount of mit buffs you have (Remember to check Personal Advancement choices).

The amount of +mit% you have on your worn gear.

The bonus on your defensive stance (The bonus to worn armour) and if you have it on or not.

Thanks.

So unless AA spec is reset, bruisers will always have additional mitigation showing on armor even when naked and completely unbuffed. On the other hand the AA effect is so nerfed that the mitigation increase is minimal, a 90 fabled breastplate with 382 mitigation only increases by 9 with Hardened Skin maxed out.
