I betrayed my 77 Warlock to Wizard because I figured I'd have better/faster solo/questing speed. I'm clearly approaching this the wrong way, as a Warlock I was dropping my reactive damage ability (Aura of the Void), applying Acid and Dark Pyre then using Distortion and Encase, usually this would drop a mob right away and I'd skitter off without taking much of a beating, clearly this rotation with the Wizard equivalent spells does not work, i.e. popping Ice Shield, using Immolation, Ice Spears, Incinerate(?) then using Ball of Fire and Magma chamber. This rarely if ever gets a mob below half or 2/3rds and Magi's shielding doesn't seem to do as much for a Warlock as it does for a Wizard. I'm lucky to come out of a fight with half my health at best.

So clearly I'm doing something wrong. How the hell do I solo as a Wizard?

You are aware, I assume, that all of your spells have been reset to the lowest level when you betrayed.

Use the root / nuke strategy. Don't use your dots as each tick is an extra chance to break a root, unless the mob is almost dead and you can take the hits. And unfortunately our debuff is a Dot.

Try Ice Comet, Root, Ball of Fire, Magma Chamber, Root, and whatever non dot spells you have left.

To be really safe, Root, 2 nukes, Root again, 2 nukes, etc.

Don't forget we have two roots, single and group targets.

Fendaria

If you can kill a mob fast enough, you should not bother to root him. Pre-cast Frigid Gift Ice Spears Storming Tempest Magma Chamber Flames Of Velious Ice Comet Ball Of Fire By the time mobs gets to you it should be almost dead already.

If it's not dead by the time it gets to you pop numbing cold and back up and finish the job.
