We heard in Fan Faire that you guys are looking into Possess Essence and pets in general.

Can we get any updates on what's happening with this?

As of right now, Possess Essence/Charm is a big part of playing a Coercer class, and it's not getting used to it's full benefit in raids due to the fact that our pets die so easily in raids and as a Coercer, we have no way of getting a new pet mid-fight since we can't Possess a boss.

Also, what's the deal with the lack of classes on monsters? In any raid zone I go into in Sentinel's Fate, all I can find are Berzerkers or Guardians. These hardly do any damage and are almost not worth Possessing whatsoever.

If we could Possess some of our raid members, or maybe even summoner pets, it would be so much better for us and we can finally get a better use for one of our most important Class Mechanic.

I saw in the Test notes that they will be adding the ability to possess boss mobs and named in GU58. This should help a lot in cases where the trash mobs are gone and you've wiped and lost your pet. It should also alleviate variety issues a little bit, as I've noticed that most boss mobs are more likely to have scout or caster classes (unless it's a big, honking golem or something like that).

I feel your pain on the lack of creative class assignments though, and I'm not even a raider. I think Guardian, Berserker, and Warlock are a bit too common. It's especially disappointing when you possess something that has a name hinting at a class but it turns out to be a something vanilla (a roekillik geomancer... conjuror? Nope, warlock. A roekillik boneraiser... nerco? Nope, warlock).

Those issues aside, I do love what they've done with the spell. It's pretty fun for me to run around possessing everything that moves and see what class it is. As long as I don't care about my parse, because it takes a while to cast in a fight.

Gathren I find trubs a good amount of the time.. do u have ACT with the trub triggers?Thats helps. I know they dont always cast ther spells .. but ther are other class types out there.

The best thing i have been able to to in the past is to Possess other raid member in palace, i just find that so entertaining.Well it is in place now. Now we can Possess a Bose mob or Epic.. and that is so cool!2 bad they still go down like a 2$, aw... well u know...

Not to necro the thread, but wouldn't it be better if we could PE any ally or friend? Wouldn't that give us more of what we are looking for in a pet? The ability to better choose a class we'd like?

Of course, if priests pets did more priestly things, that would help as well, but the ability to always have a dirge or troub in group on a raid would be of great benefit.

I always get jealous in the hole instance where the pets you pick up do macros and actually cast useful buffs. PE should be like that!

PE will never be worth the cast time until it gets an AE immunity. It just splats instantly on 99% of raid fights within the first minute. It's a bit of a shame as well... I am far from being in the best gear, and I've seen the little bugger do 5-8% of my dps on fights where it just doesn't die instantly.

That's the biggest thing that has to be addressed to make PE useful... an AE immunity. I can live with the cast time or not having it on name-heavy zones, but until it actually lives long enough to be useful, it doesn't even need to be on my bar.
