View Full Version : Bags DO restore position after alt-tab to fullscreen (FIXED)

Both before AND after GU57, the bags would move when Alt-tabbing to Windowed mode. That's ok, because the viewport size changes, I guess the developers wanted to avoid user's ingame windows going outside of the view.

Before GU57, however, if you alt-tabbed BACK to fullscreen everything was back to its original position as intended.

Since GU57, I have to reposition all the bags after switching to windowed mode This is a major annoyance.

I hope you can restore this behaviour as it was before? Somehow before GU57 it was remembering the fullscreen positions and would revert to them.

On a sidenote, unfortunately in Windows I haven't figured a way to Alt-Tab and minimize the game at the same time, so the windowed mode and subsequent bag windows rearranging can not be avoided

THANK YOU FOR FIXING THIS IN GU58 !

God it was making me crazy, I don't have to /loadUi everytime I alt tab to the desktop now

My bags have always moved when I went to window mode and never went back where they belonged.

They slowly crawl down the screen until they go off of it unless I move them every time.

The only thing I've really noticed with G57 is that it is just worse now: the bags move even further, but the problem was already there.

Yeah, this is an issue I've always had.

I just adjusted everything to play in windowed mode all the time, by completely hiding the start menu/taskbar on the bottom of the screen, so all I see in windowed mode that I wouldn't see in fullscreen is the bar on the top of the screen.

It must have worsened then. I didn't notice this problem before, only that bags appeard in a different position while windowed but so long as I didn't touch them they went back to their original position in fullscreen.

Anyways, for me they go up instead of down. I can't find a way to avoid this, or even predict the behaviour. Sometimes bags stay put for a while, sometimes to climb up the screen, a good centimeter at a time, every time I alt tab it's making me crazy X_X

TheSpin: decent workaround, but it has a performance cost. I can see at least 4 FPS difference between windowed and fullscreen, even though fullscreen has more screen estate! Also I can't get rid of the window title bar even if I click "maximize".

Mine stay where they are every time now . . .

Before the GU they would move, then return to their original position.

Mine go as far as resizing themselves and changing their icon sizes whenever I switch between full screen and windowed. It's quite annoying.

Could it be related to resolution ? What resolutions are you using?

I'm running 2560x1440 and even though there is space on every side when windowed, the bags move.

In case this helps anyone I have found a clumsy workaround:

Save UI, Alt Tab, Load UI (use macros) ..

I had to do the same with hotkeys anyways since GU57 replaces random skills on my hotbar (not even upgrades), it seems to replace skills one bar a bove or below what should be replaced..

Best solution I have found was to spread my bags horizontally rather than vertically to reduce the chance of multiple bags stacking on top of each other during an alt tab. They always move north and south for me, so by having less columns and more rows it has reduced the annoyance dramatically for me.

When I switch between windowed and fullscreen, I always have to use the /load_uisettings command to snap everything back as it should be. It's annoying since I have many characters and have to make sure to load up the correct character's ui settings from the list that pops up, but it doesn't take long, and it's not like I'm switching back and forth every minute. I do wish the game had some sort of automatic window position refresh when Alt+Entering between the two, though.

Yeah I used to have macros for saving / loading the UI after each alt-tab but ...

THANK YOU FOR FIXING THIS IN GU58 !

Seems to work fine now

Character and bags are shifted when windowed (ie either the bags or the character window moves, but as before GU57, they get back in place when going back to fullscreen, without need to /load ui, which is awesome).

This has got to be the single best fix I have seen for a huge pita for a long time.

Thanks!

Now if they would finally fix the bag resizing bug!

Is that the one where you can resize a bag window but it doesn't have any use because it snaps back to its original size after you release the left button?

It's a little annoying at times because I endup resizing a bag when I mean to move the window, but it's not really sizable (the icons dont scale as you enlarge the window), then it would be better off to be disabled.

The bug I am talking abouthas been around for YEARS and never gets fixed, it is where you set your bag size to a certain size (42 for me) and some bags will resize themselves to 32 and in a different shape.

Over at eq2interface they say it is because of having toon with a quiver/satchel or whatever that is beyond the codings ability to maintain size. I really don't know what causes it but for years it has been happening to me and many other people.

Profit has a setting that used to keep it from happening but that doesn't work any more, and it is incredibly annoying to have to resize some of your bags every_single_time you log in because they are too small to see.

Not everyone has perfect vision and we need things to be larger in order to see them, this buy has been around for so long that I have just given up even trying to fix them when I log on a toon, life is too short to be squinting at the screen trying to find a tiny pixel to right click and resize a bag every day.

If I need to know what is in those small bags I usually have to ask my husband to look at what is in there, making it a pita.
