Hello,

Since 3 days ago (just following the Runnyeye Server downtime) I started to get strange graphic problems - the main one being wireframe buildings in some locations. This one, in New Halas, is most prominent.

I have tried logging in and out a number of times, doing a fresh scan etc, with no fix. I have an Nvidia 9800, running Windows 7 with 4mb of ram. Have not changed the system or updated anything at all. The only change I can think of is the hotfix that went on the server recently.

I also have a strange problem when I have Shader 3.0 on where I see alot of Black - Warg Mounts for example are all solid black for me. Mirror reflections are often solid black. Some armour etc.

Any ideas?

Cheers.

If you use the streaming client, try the following:

Bunji wrote:

We are working on a solution for this issue, but not sure when it will be implemented.

If deleting the assetcache would cause you to redownload a ton of info (and your comfortable editing a file), this solution should fix your existing assetcache:

1. Locate your streaming install directory (you can right-click and chose properties on your desktop shortcut and see the install path on the 'Target' and 'Start In' lines)

2. Right-click the EverQuest2.exe file in that directory and choose "Create Shortcut " (not a copy). Name it something like EverQuest2AssetFix.exe.

3. Right-click and chose properties on the newly created shortcut file

4. On the shortcut's 'Target' line, paste cl_forceDBCRCRecalc true; cl_resource_address http://eq2.patch.station.sony.com/p...q2/assets/live/ at the end of the existing text.

So, it would look something like this:

"C:Install Location PathEverQuest2.exe" cl_forceDBCRCRecalc true; cl_resource_address http://eq2.patch.station.sony.com/p...q2/assets/live/

*NOTE: The p...q2 part is actually patch/eq2 (not sure how to prevent the forums from cropping it).*

5. Click Apply and OK to save the changes

6. Now launch the client using that shortcut and you should see an EQ2 window pop-up with a progress bar (this is the CRC check running and verifying the correct assets are downloaded). Once this finishes the client should start and your assetcache will hopefully be fixed.

7. After running this once, you can switch back to launching the client through the launcher

Note: Make sure to run the patcher first to grab any new client files from the recent update before launching the client using just the the .exe file for those files do not stream down. You need to run the patcher after any update to get the newest client files.

There's been quite a few issues reported where assets are not updating properly in that client, doing that forces it to update them if they're different.

Thanks - I'm not sure if I am using the "Streaming Client". As far as I'm aware its just the bog standard launchpad I have always used. Is this now called the streaming client? Or is this different?

If you log in and it has a giant green "Play" button on the right hand side and no dropdown to select characters then it's the launchpad with the streaming client. If not then it's either the station launcher or the original game launchpad.

No, I'm "old school" EQ2. so its the original Launchpad.

Does anyone have a fix for the above for that? I'd try the one suggested but dont want to break it lol.

I assume this is an ATI video card? If so then download and install catalyst 10.8. That fixed the wire frame issue for me.
