Came back to the game after quitting in 2006.

I've seen multiple comments about 'removing toughness'. Would someone kindly explain what it does and why so many PvPers want it removed?

In my case - as a wizzy - anything that would make me even flimsier that I already am would sort-of suck.

Thanks

Um....

Toughness is on all PvP gear now. They have seperated PvE critical mitigation from PvP critical mitigation. If you look under your persona window, toughness should be down in the right corner. Depending on your toughness it is a straight damage mitigation against opponents in PvP. But it also plays a part in your PvP critical mitigation (you should know that whole jazz).

Removing toughness would most likely make you more squishy, but at the same time increase your damage output. This would put classes, who don't do much in PvP right now due to there low damage spells getting reduced to barely noticible annoyances (Summoners particularly, and furies!), back into the game.

But at the same time they would need to lower procs and other abilities to put them back in line so classes like scouts don't one hit auto-attack people if they planned on doing this.

This is what I believe, but I've never been the smartest frog out there.

Thank you for the information. Very valuable.

As a follow-on - what does 'Defense' do? I've searched these forums and the web and didn't find anything clear on that.

Thank you Olihin...I did find that link and it does clear some things up, though I think the above explanation of toughness is better than anything I found in that thread.

Wasn't clear on Defense...and still not really.

But appreciate your time.

basicly, when your defense skill goes up, your avoidance goes up, which means you are less likely to get hit. so basicly the higher it is, the less likely someone is to hit you. if your avoidance is at 65%, 65% of non magical( non elemental/noxious/arcane) wil be avoided and will not hit you.
