Thanks to Feldon:

Q: arrow levels? ranger vs assassin dps?A: see mechanics panel. Arrow levels tweak and mechanics changes to ranged weapons for rangers

My thoughts... Guess we'll see tomorrow. I'm sure if anything is mentioned it will sound cool. Whether it actually helps instead of nerfs yet again, whether it ever makes it live, and if it happens anytime within the next year is, as always, the question.

I'm looking forward to it. Mainly because what they say they already decided to do/working on and the timetable will determine if I stick around long enough for Velious.

I remain cautiously pessimistic.

Well. It all sounds nice. I would like to be optimistic. I really would. But instead I shall remain in "I'll believe it when I see it" mode.

Bow mechanics and item changes, hopefully coming around the same time as the guardian changes. Yes to ranged flurry. More discussion of melee CAs changed to ranged. They want rangers to fight at ranged instead of 5m.

http://eq2wire.com/2010/08/07/live-...cs-and-classes/

If I read it right, guard fixes 2-3 weeks after GU57 (unless that short note means they'll be looking at it then, not that the fixes will be coming then.) So. If the "hopefully" on bow mechanics changes doesn't get turned into yet another put-off-until-next-expansion thing, we might see something come early September?

Despite my believe it when I see it attitude, I AM pleased to hear that it sounds like they're intending to implement class fixes outside of the 3 month GU cycle. That addresses one of my issues with them. Now to see if any such mentioned changes ever arrive our way.

(Also, if low levels still need some melee attacks, why not just change our melee attacks to have a much higher max range but keep the same min range? Then low levels get to keep their close combat stuff, and the rest of us can stand ranged and not at 5m like they said?)

As much as I was looking forward to Velious I'm pretty doubtful that I will still be around by the time that comes out. I just don't have much confidence they are going to do the right thing. I'm already starting to feel like I'm wasting my time and money on this game and it would take some substantial fixes to Rangers and possibly to the game itself (F2P and other issues) for me to change my mind.

edit: The mechanics panel was sort of a let down. I was hoping to hear some actual specifics with regard to Rangers but "we'll look into it" is worse than lame. Getting access to flurry would be nice but would not come close to fixing Ranger issues by itself. I hope they have more planned than that.

I really want to see the video from the panel. Feldon did the best he could I'm sure with having to keep up in typing but it seems like there are gaps in a lot of answers.
