Just try a couple out.

2) Any "spell" that "becomes" a combat art should not be on your hotbar as your combat art > your spell. Exceptions to this is rare.

3) A tradeskill that you make or save money. Alot of armor and weapons are mastercrafted and in the end of each teir you'll chase legendary. Adept III's on the other hand you'll need all the time even to use the research assistant. I'd vote sage unless Antonia Bayle has so many of them willing to work for you for free that you can get to help you whenever you need it.

For Spells or CAs I use macros containing the CA, then the spell and then the CA again. So if I'm close enough I will use the CA. If I'm to far away I will use the spell and if I'm already casting something the CA will be queued.

You should be able to right click on a CA on your quickbar and choose "create macro" (or similar). This will open the macro window with the CA already added. Now open your knowledge book and drag and drop the spell and then the CA again into the macro window. With the primary checkbox you can decide what spell you want to use for the "range display" (icon turing red) and reuse. I did choose the spell for one and the CA for the other abilities. After you are done just close the window with OK. Currently you need to exchange the spell every time you get an upgrade. This might not be necessary after the next GU as at least spells on your quickbar will then be replaced instead of being added. Don't know if this will also be implemented for macros. p.s. this does not work with Litany as the blue background open AE will always be used. But as an open AE can also easily hit mobs you don't want it is actually a good idea to have both versions on your quickbar.

Just a little note on racials. At high levels the racials really don't mean much of anything. Half elf for tracking sounds like a really good reason to choose your race. The innate abilities may be more flavor oriented but at higher levels they mean more than many of the selectable racials. As for advice on which racials to choose... if it looks nice to you at the time, take it. You can always change later if you decide you need to.

Just drag and Drop the corresponding spell from your knowledge book below the "entry" with the CA and then also drag and drop the CA from the knowledge book even below the (now added) spell. That should do the trick.

The box is only to choose if the tooltip of the macro should show the spell or the CA and if the macro will have the red "out of range" background based on the CA range or the Spell range.
