First of all, I apologize if this issue has been addressed, but I browsed the Trial section and didn't come across any issues like the one I'm having.

Anyway, I'm trying to install the trial. I log in, and it starts to load up, and then I get this big green rectangle that says Checking, and an Active X control bar that drops down at the top of the client.

Now I've tried to install the Active X, and nothing is happening. I figured maybe if I restarted/reinstalled the client, that'd help, but nothing seems to be working. The Green rectangle still says Checking, after leaving it up all night.

If anyone is familiar with this issue, and has a solution, it would be greatly appreciated. Maybe I'm just overlooking some obvious fix.

I am having almost the same problem. Windows 7, clean install and when I tell it to install the activex control it does nothing. Just sitting here, wondering if I should even be trying this.

Not just a trial issue I have the same problem launching the game from Steam ever since they announced EQ2 Extended and my Launcher got an update. It doesn't always happen but I have no idea why the launcher should even have an Active X pop-up to begin with. Nothing like wasting a good 30min - 1hr to try and log into the game.

I had the exact same problem with playing the free trial and this is what I did: right-click the Everquest II desktop icon, select Properties, then select the Compatibility tab and check the box next to "Run this program as an administrator."

It was that simple. I'm using Windows Vista, by the way. I'm not sure if it's any different for Windows 7. I hope it works for you. This game is really fun and it sucks that you can't play it. If running it as an administrator doesn't fix the problem, I don't know what to tell you.
