Hello everyone and sorry that I have not been in the thread over the last few days.

Our development team actually has put a fix in for this issue and you should not run into the problem any longer. However what you may have to do is delete the Launchpad-user.ini and start the patcher back up.

After entering your username and password you will come to the next screen where the play button normally is.

In the bottom left hand corner it may say EU_English, so go into the options and change it to your correct region.

Now this is the important part that we want you to make sure you do before trying to press play. Exit the launcher and start it back up again and when you get to the page you normally press play on it should now correctly show you your region in the bottom left corner.

I hope this helps everyone out but if you still have a problem or any other questions let us know.

*EDIT* If you have problems with this it would probably be best if you contact our support team via phone to help you with fixing this. It will be easier for them to help you if they can walk you through the process.

*EDIT* I have edited this thread since we have put a fix in place on our side and the old steps are no longer relevant.

You can check to see the version you are patching against by an indication in the lower left corner of the UI. If this is not what you are supposed to be using, you can click on it to change it.

-- previous information (still valid) --

*UPDATE* - setting the version by the menu above should fix this problem. You can change it by hand (editing the .ini file), but it is not necessary.

You can also get to the game directory (on any version of Windows) by running the LaunchPad and clicking on the "Options" button. On the popup, you may click on the Game Folder "Open" button to open the folder no matter where it is located. See the screen shot below.

-dan

Will this also fix the problem for running two streaming clients on one computer?

I use Win7 and have been 2 boxing on one PC for the last month and a half fine until yesterday. Now when the second client loads it gets switched to EU English region, when I force it to stay in US English it will not start.

Worked for the most part; thanks! Now I just have to figure out why the guy I made on Runnyeye in the interim doesn't show up on my character list. How do I pick which server I want to make a toon on, so that I can play on one if another is down? Sooo many questions, so little time.

The reason you would not see the character created on Runnyeye is because that is one of the European servers that is actually on that EU region. If you really want to go back to that character you should be able to just delete the line out of the ini file and it will probably go back to EU in the region.

We've just deployed a fix for the Launcher (build 309) that will remember the version if you set it with the UI. This will write the setting to the LaunchPad-user.ini in the proper format.

There is a chance you may get this bug one more time, but it will remember your change after that.

The version ("region" for eq2) that you are playing is shown in the lower right corner of the UI.

-dan

What was posted here did not work for me; my file already had those lines in it, so altering it did absolutely nothing.

What did work, however, was opening my EQ2 folder and finding an .ini file called [account name]_characters-eu and deleting it **IMPORTANT - DO NOT DELETE IT IF IT DOES NOT SAY EU** (primarly b/c I don't know what will happen lol). Once I deleted it, I reloaded streaming client and it populated my characters.

A friend referred me to some tech support thread from 2008 that spurred me to attempt this. IDK if it'll screw up anything but if you don't have any EU server characters (like myself), I highly doubt it will. Maybe someone from tech support can acknowledge this as an appropriate means to an end

I'm having trouble installing. I keep getting 1002 errors with every download of the installation program: An error occured trying to access EverQuest II® Extended. Error Code: 1002 I have an open ticket (100901-00137 but nothing so far has worked. I stopped by the SOE panel at Dragoncon today (in the Savannah room of the Sheraton) and met Amnerys. She wanted me to send her a PM so she could look into this, but I don't have permission to send PMs (for whatever reason). Help! I want to play this game but i'm on day 4 and haven't gotten anywhere!

My client is opening and stopping at the SoE logo.
One problem I get consistently with the streaming launchpads (both EQ2 and EQ2X) is that the launchpad comes up to it's main screen, the Play button appears as if it's active, but then the launchpad's completely unresponsive (appears to not be responding to the Windows event queue in a timely manner, because there's an extreme lag in exposed parts of the window being redrawn (whatever was on top of them remains visible inside the launchpad visible area)) and the disk activity light's almost solid. It normally happens when it's overnight or longer since the last start of the launchpad, it rarely happens when I re-run the launchpad soon after exiting it. It's somewhat annoying to have to basically run the launchpad and then go make dinner while waiting for the launchpad to finish working and the Play button to actually start responding to clicks.

I'd love if they'd make the old non-streaming launchpad available again. There's the Station Launcher, but it's still in beta. It'll download the rest of the game but won't download the non-streaming launchpad (EQ2.exe, which luckily I still have from my original installation), and it seems to have problems running some of the games under Win7 64-bit.

#1

Since the update Wednesday I've been getting fairly constant disconnets to character select (I can't finish a BG without either a disconnect or client crash). It started before the servers came down but after the files to be updated went up.

The disconnects are all the same. I get no local echo but all chat goes through and I can still hear voice chat (no mic, so dunno if I can speak in it). I can move around but cannot interact with anything. My ping climbs to the high 2Ks and then I load character select. This happened a whole lot when I first started because files were still patching, but having left my patcher up for very long periods with nothing DLing I cannot imagine that this is the cause for this bout of it. I've done the "Check streamed assets on start up" as well as the "Scan Game Assets". Neither has helped.

Throughout palying my downstream number varies between 0 and 6000, which I confess I haven't watched before today, so that could be normal.

Resolved: I've run a tracert during the crash and had a timeout at one hop ( Te-8-2.NewYork1.Level3.net [4.68.111.241] ) on my last two disconnects, so gonna call that one not a streaming client issue.

#2

At least once every day I DL 4.3 MB before I can hit the "Play" button.

I can go through my logs and look for disconnect times to give an idea of how often it's happening, but I'm not going to bother doing that unless someone needs the information.

StartTimestamp=1286910357Initial=false, Downloaded=4535182, Seconds=4.867, MBps=0.889, StartTime=Tue Oct 12 16:07:47 2010,

StartTimestamp=1286914067Initial=false, Downloaded=4535182, Seconds=4.992, MBps=0.866, StartTime=Tue Oct 12 19:40:27 2010,

I have 20 or 30 such entries with the same downloaded total.

Resolved: Hasn't happened since Tuesday's update.

I just downloaded the stream client for a second computer. It installs the streaming client but it wants to download all 12+GB before I can start. Is this because its an existing account?

Then I went through registry to see if anything was still present. Delete the SOE folder in Program files and in Applicationdata folder. Went to the Sony site and re-downloaded the Streaming client and installed it. I checked the install folder, it said /Everquest II Streaming/.

Now however, despite having uninstalled and delete everything I could find before hand, when i open the client it sill should the last use login name. That tells me I missed something, and I can't be sure I am using a clean install of the client.

Could there be some remnant of an old install (Everquest 2 was on this computer at one time, long ago) thats messing tih the Streaming client?
