My wife is an Assassin and we are going to stat doing some experiments to find a better blue stat combination to get her DPS up a bit. Her DPS mod is way high, her DA is 100%+, her crit bonus is ~50 and her potency is ~35. Her crit chance is of course above 100%.

Her haste is only around 65 so we have been working on haste items and adornments for her. Her DPS is usually around 40% autoattack, 60% combat arts. I have seen parses where the Assassins had slightly lower Autoattack DPS but their combat art DPS rocked hers by about 2:1 ratio.

My conclusion was that she needs to forget the haste (unless a nice items drops that has it) and focus on potency, Crit Bonus and spell reuse. I'm gonna blow some adornment materials and work with her to change her adornments after a bunch of runs on training dumbies to see if that does indeen jump her DPS up.

I was hoping somebody could offer advice on this before I spend a couple hundred plat on ingredients making adornments. Any suggestions/comments are appreciated.

Potency - Crit Bonus - Agility - Crit - DA - Ability Mod - Haste - C/P/S - DPS Mod

In that order.

Her breakdown seems really skewed towards auto attack, makes me wonder if she is getting off her best CAs before the mob dies.

Having less potency really doesn't matter since crit bonus is just plain better unless it's a fight where you loose a lot of crit chance from debuffs.

I always thought in the end crit bunus = potency. But i would love to see where this thread goes. Leveling a sin, so this info will be good.

/pulls out pencil and paper

Potency is > crit bonis not because it's applied first or anything like that, but because you have 0 innate potency and 50 innate crit bonus. And the formulas are linear, that's why both potency and critbonus have a diminishing return. So unless your auto-attack is like 33% of your dps or more potency is > crit bonus for you.
