For most places by boat is a fine enough explanation for how we got some A to B, but there has to be some kind of explanation for how the bell works to and from Kelethin.

I mean, boats can't go to a city in the treetops in the middle of land, and at least in Moores theres a airship going to and from to explain your travel there...

Can't you add some kind of hot air balloon or something to make it, make a little more senss of how we get from A to B...like the ones we use as travelling griffens in moores...

Those bells were a nice addition, but that kelethin one just always makes me feel like I'm cheating... It just doesn't fit at all into any rational explanation of how...

Right, thats my daily grumble done for the day. If any of you have a better explanation that fits things together of how I managed to teleport from the middle a land locked city in the tree tops without a wizard or a druid aiding me... let me know

I don't like this cheating feeling

The bell in kelethin is just as bad as the bell in west freeport. The bell in kelethin should be located in the nursery area of gfay with a horse to run to kelethin or at least the outpost. The bell in west freeport could simply use a new graphic like he portals used in northfreeport to move around zone.

either or they are just small nagging issues.

Please keep in mind that the bell in Kelethin USED to be a flying carpet that would transport you to the Sinking Sands. Originally, Kelethinites had to travel all the way to BBM to use the carpet, but they decided to just have the carpet take you to and from Kelethin directly, and this is how the travel bell works. You just gotta use your imagination a little that you're still traveling to Kelethin by the carpet that would take you to the Sinking Sands.

*I know there small, and pretty much non-issues. Just every time I need to use that bell I find myself unable to. I can't speak for freeport, haven't been there in a long time, but the kelethin one... *shiver*!

On that pretty beach by the nursery would have been a better spot. I mean with a gnome one person hot air balloon thing sitting by the bell you could at least pretend thats what your taking, like the air ship one in moors....

Sir Gearheart is up in Kelethin so having something like that could be so easily explained??

That should explain everything!

More realistically, just imagine your character is actually traveling to that location but avoiding all encounters. Successfully.

Boat to the beach and a horse from there would have made a lot more sense but it seems we'll just have to go along with the catch-all for anything that doesn't make sense: it's magic.

If I remember from the lore that was given with that update, the new "bells" work in this way: turn the globe, point to where you want to go, and your teleported there. So technically, none of the travel by the new "bells" is travel by carpet, boat, airship, etc.

I hadn't heard that before, but what with teleportation magic now at it's strongest that it's ever been at, I don't doubt that being the case.

I do recall that being the case. Some kinda "Map magic" to port you. It's why the maps come up, instead of the lists. So you get the feel that you're actually pointing on The Globe.

Again, keep in mind that these are no longer Bells, which were soley for ship travel.

I suggested, back when we had Bells, for one by the nursery though.

When I heard about the changes I was bothered, but when I saw the change they made to the bells... they don't really look like bells now. Definately looks like some magical transportation device instead.

If that idea bothers you...just imagine the indiana jones lines as stated above.... don't forget to sing the theme song!

Honestly, this one bugs me in a HUGE way. They are mariner bells always located at the docks and ports of call. Kelethin has no water and I keep imagine a flying galley ala Peter Pan to be flying through the forest and pulling up to the tree.

Ships dont fly, airplanes and gnomish things ok but not sailing ships. I agree a carpet to sinking sands was ok, this ship is not. It should be showing up near the beach by the nursery.

And speaking of magic carpets, the ones missing in Sinking Sands kinda stinks. No more traveling from Sinking Sands to the cities, now we have to travel to a connection point to the cities. Would be nice to have those put back in place or expand the current bells to check alignment and let us connect to the cities we can travel to via the docks in those locations.

They should of just left it as a carpet to be honest.

If the lore states that you're now directly transporting via magic to each location, then there's no physical transportation involved. You're now literally pointing and clicking to go exactly where you want to go instantly.

If you're still thinking about it in terms of physical transportation then I'd think you'd be more bothered that you'd get there in 5 seconds rather than your screen blanking out for 30 minutes or so while a little cartoon boat floats across your screen.

There are no more boats.. it's magic~

Its not the magic that bugs me, we have druid rings and spires which teleport you instantly and you can explain the blanking screens as the needless part of a journey. Its just out of sorts, thats all.

After all, we have the flower which teleports you to kelethin and that has never bugged me. Just the mariner bell to the tree top, its odd.

It's not really a bell when you look at it, however. It's more of a spinning globe, which seems appropriate for an object that can trasport you around the world. I think they went with that kind of model for the world transportation specifically because a mariner bell (like they still use in Qeynos/FP) would have made little sense.
